Progestin Pill/mini Pill

I have a 2 year old daughter and am due with girl #2 in 2 weeks. If we have another, it definitely won't be for at least 2 years, so I don't want to "close up shop" completely, but I don't want to be pregnant again any time soon. Past methods of bc have included the pill, from the time I was about 16 till I was 25 or so. After that my boyfriend and I pretty much just practiced the "rhythm method" or "pulling out". We've been together for almost 12 years, and have been married for almost 4. Once we got married we stopped being "safe", and although we weren't actively trying, it still took about 10 months to get pregnant. I nursed my daughter for a year, and didn't even get my period again until she was 8 months old...I know breast feeding is not birth control, but I guess it gave me a (false?) sense of security...that and some more rhythm method. When we decided to maybe have another, I got pregnant right away. I have read a ton about all the negative side effects of Mirena, and would like something a little less intrusive, so I'm thinking about the progestin-only pill. Any experiences to share? Bad side effects? I know it needs to be taken very regularly, but that doesn't really bother me.

What can I do next?

I suggest contacting the Couple to Couple League about the sympto-thermal method. No drugs and no side effects. It may be a little trickier learning it just after having a baby, but they are very patient with teaching you and your husband the details.

It seems as if no one uses it anymore, but I used the diaphragm with spermicide for 15 years and never got pregnant. I think that if you use it properly and it's fitted well, it provides better protection than statistics say. I know it might not be as "spontaneous", but I think I could get that puppy in place in the wink of an eye after I used it for a while. No hormones needed!

I have 3 children. The 3rd was because I was on the mini-pill. It did not work for me.
Obviously!
Oh, and as you have experienced, rhythm method does not work well either.
Talk to your doctor about your best options.

I also have a friend that got pregnant on the mini-pill. She was "done after 2"....now she has 3. :)

She's going the IUD route.

I only took the mini pill for 3 or 4 days. It made me soooooo hungry. I wanted to eat everything in sight. Not good in general and especially when dealing with baby weight. I felt like a food monster. Then it jump started my period right away so that was a huge bummer.
