Products for Sensitive Face

I hate to wear make-up because it makes my face and my eyes burn. I've tried so many products out there for 'sensitive skin' and just can't find one to work. Well, my skin seems to be getting more sensitive and more blotchy because I don't always remember to wear a sunscreen. So, I decided to get a moisturizer with the sunscreen in it, for sensitive skin. My eyes are burning me so bad, and I didn't even put any close to my eyes. Also the skin on my cheeks has burned a little. Does anyone else have this issue? If so, is there a brand that you trust that you can recommend?

What can I do next?

Thank you so much for all of the input! I think I'm going to take a lot of your advice and get into a dermatologist. :) Thanks again!

www.arbonne.com Arbonne is so great with my sensitive skin...I've even started using their foundation powder (haven't worn foundation for 10 years). They even have an anti-aging line that is fabulous. Many people think it's too expensive but their product is so concentrated, each bottle lasts a VERY long time. My rep is awesome too, she totally caters to her customers and gives discounts all the time. Let me know if you want her contact info! :)

I sooo understand. My cousin introduced me to the Arbonne products for this same reason. I've researched, being a nurse, and now my teens only use Arbonne as well. They have great discounts avail so I never pay retail. If you want more info I can give you my consultant's number ###-###-####. Arbonne only accepts a "0" rating on their hypoallergenic scales and also offer a 45 day money back guarantee. If it doesn't work, you get your money back! I've used it on my son who's a cardiac baby for his eczema and hasn't had a breakout in 4 years....hope this helps and best of luck!

I have very sensitive skin so I moved to all-natural.

First, no need to wash your face every day, it strips the oils. Wash you face with plain water every other day and gently pat dry.

I use Dr. Bronner's baby soap for my face. The all-natural ingredients don't bother me and Dr. Bronner's is so much cheaper than all the Arbonne or Mary Kay stuff. I don't get fancy.

I use plain, food-grade Now brand almond oil on my face. Almond oil is a very old facial moisturizer and is very close to the oils on your skin. Also, jojoba oil (plain oil) can be used as well. The almond oil isn't greasy, I just put a dab on and gently massage it into my face. It's not a sunscreen, BUT I have found that the almond oil seems to protect my face so when I do put sunscreen on it doesn't bother me. The same with makeup. Makeup doesn't bother me with the almond oil on.

Almond oil is about $4 a bottle. There aren't any harsh chemicals or dyes in it.

In my opinion, when in doubt, go back to nature!

I would recommend that you try the Cerave hydrating skin cleanser and lotion as a facial moisturizer. Cerave is available at any pharmacy or grocery store in the facial moisturizer section. I use the Cerave lotion for both my kids, from the time they were newborns, and both my kids have sensitivie skin. When my kids were infants I also used this on my face, so I wouldn't expose them to any other harsh chemicals, and I really liked the way it worked.

I have been grappling with sensitive as well since my teen years, and I can tell you that the trick to dealing with sensitive skin, is to stick to one simple cleanser and a thin, light moisturizer. In TX, there is no need for a heavy moisturizer with all this heat and humidity. Also, try not to experiment too much with various moisturizers. I find that SPF lotions are extremely irritating to my skin, and my eyes burn just like you described.

You can get your SPF protection often from some powders (like Almay which makes a nice powder with SPF in it), which is much more tolerable than the lotions, which sting. But for a while, stay away from the SPF chemicals, and just let your skin settle down.

All the best, and remember, care for your face the same way that you would care for your baby's skin - mild, not too harsh or exfoliative, and consistent - your skin should get better within a few weeks of consistent gentle care! good luck!

I have extremely sensitive skin, and with the help and advice of my dermatologist, I discovered inexpensive, simple products that worked wonders. I use the Cetaphil bar (not the acne kind) to cleanse, and I use Complex 15 face lotion (light and nongreasy; absorbs easily) to moisturize (day and night; I find this at CVS). I only use sunscreen if I plan to spend time in the sun as it can be extremely irritating, and when I do wear makeup, I use Jane Iredale mineral based makeup. I recommend these products to all of my sensitive-skinned friends. No need to spend a lot of money. Good Luck!

I have sensitive skin too. I like the Origins moisturizer w/ spf 25 - "a perfect world" - is the name. I also have good luck w/ the cream Aveeno cleanser for senstive skin... Try to limit the perfumes... ALSO when really dry, I slather on the Cetaphil (in the TUB) at night... it's awesome to calm the skin. Good luck.

I use Dove sensitive bar as a face wash everyother day I use a prescribed foaming face wash followed by a prescribed skin cream.I have developed really sensitive skin for a variety of reasons so I went to see a Dermatologist they can get you on the right track & you may have an underlying medical issue I know that I did it is called adut acne & Rosecea so anything I use on my face will irritate burn and I have red face. But I can't stop using makeup that really isn't my problem for yrs I have always used hot water to bath in,& I would scrub my face with face scrubs all the time well as we do that we are stripping layers of iur skin that protects us leaving behind unseen damage till the problem occurs with side effects such as redness on face skin irritations etc.Yes wear sunscreen if not get a moistrizer tinted or not with an SPF & wear it daily

Hi, If you are looking for a product off the shelf, try Oil of Olay's Complete all day moisturizer with SPF 15 for sensitive skin. But, it must be the **CLASSIC** formula!! They changed it about a year or so ago and it burned my eyes. I called to complain. Eventually I got a coupon in the mail and a letter saying that they were going to start offering the old formula rebranded as CLASSIC. It's made with octinoxate and zinc oxide. I hope you find something that works for you!

I would recommend Sei Bella. If you want info, just let me know.

Keep in mind that many products contain toxins that can aggrevate sensitivies.

I see a lot of Arbonne and Melaluca. Perhaps those are good. I would bet they're expensive. I don't have much money, and I like www.acne.org for a sensitive face wash that helps balance skin's PH levels. Their moisturizer is okay. I mostly like the face wash and benzoyle peroxide cream. It's cheap. Last order, I paid more in shipping than for the product.

I have had the same problems especially with the the blotchy skin. I have found that Avalon Organics lavender wash and moisturizer have worked wonderful for me. I think that lavender is calming, so it evens out the blotchy spots for me.

Good Luck!

I also have very sensitive skin. Some Oil of Olay products I can use and others make me break out. The one I like best is the Aveeno moisturizer that has feverfew to reduce redness. I also tend to have blotchy skin and the Aveeno moisturizer really helped reduce redness, it also has a sunscreen in it.

I can't wear regular sunscreen on my face because it makes my face puffy. There are facial sunscreens that are expensive and work. I also recommend asking your primary care or checking with a dermatologist. You may be sensitive to something specific in the products and a dermatologist can do some testing to help figure out what it is.

The truth is that when you are sensitive, what triggers you may not trigger someone else. I would recommend that you meet with a dermatologist and/or an allergist. Once you know what triggers you, you can find products that do not contain your triggers.

I tried having my eyelashes professionally died (plant dye) since I have blond eyelashes and mascara was a nightmare. I was allergic to the plant and my eyes went ballistic! In addition to allergies to certain plants (a lot used in the "all natural" makeups), I actually struggle with sunscreen on my face. The only sunscreen I can tolerate comes in the powder I use after my foundation. It took me a while to figure that out. After severe hives, lip, tongue, & eye swelling (I started carrying an epi pen because we were worried about my breathing), my allergist helped me identify it.was from sunscreen.

Good luck!

Same problem here! I find it depends on each and every product. I actually can use Benefit (counter at Macys) and you can have them try it on before you buy. Face cleaner that works is DHC virgin olive oil and I have no luck with sunscreen. I just put regular on my forehead and wear big glasses.

I've got the same problem with the burning. I've tried Arbonne - BURNED BAD (but since I tried it at a home party, wasn't out anything!!). Nothing for sensitive skin works for me except Nicole Miller. It used to be sold exclusively from Melaluca, but isn't anymore. I did try Mel's new product line, but my eyes watered all day long....but no burning!!!! I know I've seen an ad for Nicole Miller products, but haven't a clue as to where. Some of Shaklee's I can use, but mostly it's the cleansers and scrubs. I'm sure it'll be a "personal" thing - just finding the one that works for YOU! I feel your pain......do you know what it is that you're allergic to? Mine is fragrance. Usually I can smell it and know instantly if I'll have a problem with it or not.
