And THIS is the beauty of a gift card!
Hello.
I'm thinking about giving my husband one of those hammers that operates on compressed air (can't think of what they're called at the moment). Does anyone have any recommendations for a medium use brand, where to buy it and about how much it costs? One of his friends bought a heavy-duty one with compressor for $500, but he does a lot of carpentry. My hubster could use one for general around the house maintenance.
Thanks for your input.
Okay, yes, I'm talking about a nail gun. I kept thinking air gun but knew that was wrong.:-) Thanks for the update.

Okay so my husband is talking, he said you can find a kit with a compressor and nail gun. He said you don't need one for around the house use but I am wondering if you mean something different. Does he have a workshop as well?
Anyway...

Bosch is the brand Troy seems to be buying as of late.
Oh that link comes with a brad nailer so you may want to get a trim nailer as well but since that is refurbished you should have enough in your budget for that. Troy said that is perfect for what you want. By the way Troy comes from a family of carpenters, he makes furniture and did trim work as well, he knows his stuff! :)
are you talking about a nail gun? that is the only one I have heard of using an air compressor, but I could be wrong. I would maybe check out Ebay or Craigslist. you could talk to his carpenter friend, I am sure he would have good recomendations. I can ask my husband.
ETA: this is the info I found so far

Hopefully this helps you get some ideas and gives you the info to be able to shop around. I would check The Home Depot and Lowes. maybe even Wal-Mart?
Does he already have an air compressor? Once you get that, then you can add other tools to go with it.
We didn't need a heavy-duty one, so we bought an electric nail gun. It's very similar to a staple gun and uses small thin nails with tiny heads. Perfect for repairing trim and attaching molding.
Oh boy...give him the $$ and let HIM pick it out. Air hammers are AWESOME but it's like having him pick out a bra for you. (That's a REALLY nice gift by the way!)
