That part takes grace, grace, and more grace. They are frightened by the experience and have nooooo idea what to do......until they have success and support. I suggest that you be there to enjoy the successes and make it is easy as possible. I love the suggestion of figuring out when she needs to go. How I started with my first one was to try before we left the house and immediately when we got back and that would be about a good two hour span of time.
All the best. :)

The #2 training always comes after the #1.
Be patient and if that doesn't work: BRIBERY! O. m&m for a pee, two for a poo!

My son went through that phase. I realized it was because he didn't understand where the poop was coming from. It actually scared him. I bought him the book "Once upon a Potty" (they have a girl's version and a boy's version) and it just clicked for him when he saw "where" the poo came out! I had him bend over in front of the mirror like the boy in the book and showed him. My son was so relieved and after that he wanted to try it! I couldn't believe it was just that simple. Some M&M's helped too =-)

How old is your daughter? We recently realized that we don't think my son yet knows when he has to go. My husband sat him on the toilet in the morning and he said he was done and got up. My husband asked him to sit for just a few more moments and he went. He seemed truly surprised by it.

Do you know when your daughter normally poops? If so, try taking her in around that time and entertain her while she sits for awhile.

A lot of kids are like that. I don't know why but I hear that all of the time.
