I am looking to invest in a potty chair & would like one that is simple, easy to use/clean & small. Our LO is very interested in the potty but still to small to get up & down from the real potty by herself. Anyone have a recommendation from experience? Thanks!

What can I do next?

I have two that worked great. First is the 1st year one that others talked about. It's a potty chair that can be converted to step stool and seat on a real toilet. We only used it as a potty chair. My older girl preferred this when she first learned. Second is a toilet seat reducer. It's caled Primo Ducka, search for it on amazon. It fits great on all toilets. We take it with us when we travel. My oldest refused to go #2 on the little potty chair, but when she saw the duck, that was it! Boy were we relieved she preferred the duck for #2!

We have two potties... one with a lid and a removable "bucket" which sets inside of a removable seat which can set inside of an adult toilet seat for later on (and the old potty chair turns into a "stepstool"), and the baby bjorn potty chair. I love that one... easy to clean and dump, and it looks very comfortable for her to sit on. It also has a front "splash guard"- which our daughter doesn't need... but would be nice if you had a boy. With potty chairs simple is best!

They come in a bunch of colors too! we got the hot pink, if we have a boy we probably will get one of the other colors for him... lol!

Good Luck and welcome to potty training!

I have two favorites for two different situations. My first favorite you can pick up from Target. It is a toilet that can be used for a stool, the seat comes off and can also be used on the big toilet for little bottoms to sit on and not fall in, and the reservoir comes out for easy dumping. My second favorite is a little travel potty, you open it up and it stands like a "breakfast in bed" tray, then you close it up and it looks like a mini suitcase to take anywhere. The best part of the whole thing is you use Ziploc bags as your reservoir. I cannot tell you how many times one of my newly trained kids had to go when we were no where near a potty or we were driving. It's made by Cool Gear International, Inc. but I couldn't tell you where they are sold. You may find them on the internet.

Good luck!

I would suggest skipping the potty chair and getting the potty ring that fits right onto the seat, and a stool so she can get up and down herself. Potty chairs are gross to clean and getting her right on the potty proved to be more effective with my daughter-that's what Mom and Dad do, sit right on the seat! You could always get a stool that is a potty, too, in case the above advice doesn't work out. Good luck!

I have a froggy potty from Fisher Price. Got it at Target for $12! My son (23 months) loves it bc he can take the inner potty part that hold the pee too the big potty and flush it down himself. He always waves and says bye bye pee pee! I just rinse it in the sick and dry with a paper towel and bleach it once a week...

We have two of the Fisher Price potty chairs from Walmart- looks like a green frog with a turquoise colored potty basin. Easy to clean, simple, and the eyes of the frog are high enough in the front to block little boys' streams... and it's under $20!

The first one we got my son had a lid, which never stayed up and while he sat on it it would always fall on his back. Second I bought the Fisher Price Rainforest Potty, it's a frog. I love it, and so did he. He is now potty trained but I am going to be buying the same one in pink when our daughter potty trains. We got it at Wal-Mart, for like $12-$15 I think.

WAIT!! Till you know your child. My DD NEVER used a potty, clip on potty seat or anything in between. She used the regular toilet one day and hasnt looked back. Take the q's...borrow, then see. They are all different.
Good luck in your venture!!!

We have the Elmo potty. It was great for potty training beginning, because we could keep it close. I hated cleaning the potty (any potty) and moved her to the toilet ASAP. But, the elmo seat part can be put on a traditional toilet seat - double function! and, the insert doubles great as a puke bucket later on!

I HIGHLY recommend going to home depot and getting the Bemis seat that has a child sized seat built right into the lid. it's a regular toilet seat, but in the lid is a smaller ring, and it can just be lifted up or pulled down. I don't know why they don't sell these in baby stores! only $30 or so. so worth it. we use this on our downstairs toilet, and the elmo seat on the toilet upstairs. both have stools for her to climb up!

I have the safety 1st brand potty and I really like it. It's simple, has a lid, removable bucket, and the top seat comes off so it can go on top of a real toilet, then the bottom can be used as the step stool. So it's pretty much an all in one potty. I got mine from Walmart for about 20 or maybe even a little less. I just remember it was pretty cheap :) but it works great.
