Hi gals. I am in need of some advice/help/ideas.

I am 4 weeks post total abdominal hysterectomy (still have my ovaries). For about a week now I have been suffering from unabated nausea. Along with that I have had diarrhea and some dizziness.

This is an issue, not only because I am miserable! But also because I am breastfeeding and the diet of toast and coke is getting old.

I still have a fair amount of pain in the abdominal area, especially with bearing down. Also, "taking it easy" with a six year old and a six month old is a relative term!

All that to ask, is this normal? Could this have something to do with my hormones? I have read about ovaries "going bad"? I am annoyed and worrying that something else is going wrong. However, may be it is just a stomach bug that won't go away?

Any thoughts would be welcome!

L.

Hey L.,

I would call your OB/GYN office tomorrow. It doesn't take long for one to become dehydrated from diarrhea, and you might be enemic from blood loss. I also know that your body requires more calories for you and the baby while breastfeeding. I wouldn't wait any longer. I sure hope you feel better soon! Take care.

Call the doctor's office or the nurse advice line! Tell your incredible husband he may need to take some time off to help you at home. Could he work part time for the next two weeks so he's home a little more? Never had a hysterectomy, but had 3 c-sections - none of what you're describing ever happened to me.
My mother-in-law did get some hormone relief by taking some over the counter plant hormone replacement therapy. The name was estroven. I know they have it at Wal Mart.
Call the doctor, please! Hang in there!

Hi L.,

I'm not going to try and act as if I was a doctor. But from what you are describing you need to call one now. My niece had 3 C-sections and she recover quickly if you asked me (I had two natural births). Call your doctor.
