Can anyone suggest a protrait studio in Torrance. Do you have experience with Sears, JC Penny or a private studio in the area? I am looking to start taking some family pics. Thanks so much.

I have had experience with both JC Penney and Sears. They are OK. If you want really great pictures, my family and many of my friends have been using LaMar Photography for many years. He will take photos at his studio, as well as on location. (His beach portraits are awesome). The phone number is ###-###-####. www.lamarphoto.com He is located in Harbor City. (Sorry, I can't seem to create a link on this page).

Hi C.. In my experience, we had better results with Sears compared to JC Penney.

My daughter's first portraits were with JCP. Even though we had an appointment, we had to wait 2 hours. By then, my baby was already tired and cranky and in no mood to smile. She was wearing a white dress and the photographer wanted to use a white backdrop, not to mention sit her next to a white bear and white bunny. He (the photographer) didn't even use his co-workers suggestions about the set design. We were not happy with the pictures and we paid a lot. Never again.

So for the next portraits we tried Sears. I made sure we're the first appointment for the day (so no waiting). The photographer here did a great job and she easily made my baby smile. Our pictures came out great. If you decide to go Sears, the coupons help a lot!

One thing you might also want to try is a freelance photographer. My friend hired one for the day and this photographer came to their place (or wherever they want to have them). So the kids were able to do their own thing and they changed clothes as many times as they want. Even the candid shots turned out really well. After it's done, my friend got a CD of all the images and she was free to make copies anywhere.

Hope this helps :)
