Moms, I was wonderng if anyone else has suffered from serious nausea as part of PMS. My doc swears this is normal but this month I was so sick I couldn't even take care of my daughter properly. Has this happened to you? How did you manage it. Thanks for your thoughts.

So What Happened?

I went to the doc and found out I had whole other issue going on. I am addressing it and hope it helps with the pms too. If not, I will be using some of your great ideas.

My neice who is 22 has projectile vomiting like she did as an infant. She gets quite sick. She just is always prepared with a barf bag. Good luck.

I have had it happen many times and it seems that every few years I am nausea a little before and during my period for about 6 months, then it goes away for a year or more but comes back. It has to do something with the hormone levels, being on birth control sort of helped me but then I felt crazy on the pill so stopped. Now when it happens I treat it like morning sickness, when I wake up and feel nauseous I eat a few crackers and slowly get up, I also have those preggo pops (suckers and hard candy) which has herbs that help ease the nausea feeling (sometimes it works sometimes not). I have found the preggo pops at various baby places like USA Baby & Babies R Us.

I have had this off and on since high school (now 28, so roughly 12 years), and I have an odd period which we tried to stabilize with birth control but that made me feel like I was crazy and mean to everyone around me. My hormone levels also jump around more then they should which is why the OB/GYN thinks I feel nauseous sometimes during/around my period (just like morning sickness when someone is pregnant).

I have had this. But I also eventually had a cyst removed that was pressing on my uterus and I had polyps prior to that so I wonder if those conditions can create this.

Yes, I used to get nausea, blackouts, flooding, big clots, and servere cramps. To my surprise, it was worse than having a baby. (I've always had a bad period.) At that time, no one knew anything about PMS or that it even exsisted. I used to get times when my mensus just wouldn't stop, so I had to go to the Dr. and get BC to stop it. (They would only give me 1 pack.) They've always told me it was normal. To ease the nausea, I would eat starches that absorb stomach acids like popcorn and bread. I'd also rest a lot! I used heating pads for the cramps and refrain from eating beef, which didn't help at all with the flooding. When I finally got married, I went on the BC pills "perminantly." Guess what? No more problems. I guess I'll be on the BCs until menopause.

C.,
I would get diarhea, so that is possible.
I have a great cd on women's health. There are actually 4 types of pms discussed on it. Let me know if you would like a copy of it.

This use to happen to my mother - although, it affected her more during adolescence and young adulthood. I know that a good quality/ high potency calcium & magnesium supplement helps to combat some PMS symptoms.

I used to get nauseated enough to go home sick. After my second child this changed, and the nausea stopped for the most part. Another supplement that helps is evening primrose oil. Its great for PMS symptoms
Another thing I did was stay busy so I could not think about the nausea. I got tired of going home because of PMS and the like. I also used to get the runs as well, once I started my cycle. There is a whole list of supplements to take when you have PMS, and I am surprized that your doctor has not recommended them. Let me know if you are interested in more of them. you can buy them any place you like.

It has never happened to me. Are you sure you are not pregnant? Are you having any other symptoms? Has this happened before? Or is it a first? If you are still worried, I would go back to the doctor. Good luck.
