We are new to San Antonio and my son just started at Country Home on NW Military. His first two weeks were pretty tough. One of the teachers cursed, one let him fall out of a swing close to the ground and didn't want to file a report, and the teacher turn over rate is high in his classroom. I moved him to the younger infant classroom where he is the oldest one in his class. Now my son decided to "pull up" on a little girl in a low swing and pulled her down. He also is teething and decided to do this on her head! Does this mean I'm a horrible mom? In addition, since he is the oldest in that classroom I think I need to move him back to the room I just took him out of because it is more age appropriate. I'm on so many waiting lists for daycares, but they are all like a year wait! What to do?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Everything is going much better with the daycare. I'm loving the room he is in and he hasn't assaulted anyone else! I'm feeling a little less guilty about working and having him there. Thank you everyone for all your advice!

Have you tried Home-daycares? i have my son in one and I wouldn't have it any other way. She is awesome and he gets the individual attention that he wouldn't if he was w/ kids his own age. I even have my nephew in this daycare. I would suggest home daycares to you. I have had a wonderful experience w/ my daycare provider.

Hi C. -

Sorry to hear about the daycare drama. I've heard some interesting stories about Country Home.

Here's a link to explore your options. You can check out 'in-home' daycares as well as other daycares in your area. It also gives you reports on these daycares and what violations they may or may not have. http://www.dfps.state.tx.us/child_care/search_texas_child...

Good Luck!!

Maybe think about a in home daycare where he could get a little more one on one attention and where there is less kids.

Good luck!

I personally would find another day care or check out the list of in-home day care providers that the city has for your area. He might have done what was done to him in the swing. You're not a bad mom for trying to find a safe/nurturing/caring place for your son while at work. You're proactive by being on other waiting lists but keep searching and praying for his safe keeping and listen to your intuition about whether this is the right place for him. I know it takes time to find a great place, I moved my daughter 3 times before I found a great place for her at her toddler age. It ended being a wonderful in-home day care. She stayed there until we moved from the area and it became no longer convenient. You also might want to check out Cornerstone church. I don't remember if it's only a mom's day out or if they are available everyday. Don't give up.
