Hello moms. I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas of play areas for little kids (indoors)Im a stay at home mom of a one year old, sometimes I take him to the mall for the play area but I was wondering if there is anywhere else I could possibly take him that is cheap so he can get out and active a couple times a week? Any ideas? Thanks.

What can I do next?

If it's not too far for you, Land O Lakes Public Library has story time for toddlers. It's free. You can check it out at http://pascolibraries.org/ or perhaps there's a public library closer to you.

Also, on SR 41 in the Winn Dixie shopping center, there's Planet Bounce. It's a bounce house that has those inflatables and a toddler area for kids to play indoors. It's $8 for 2 and up and $6 for under 2, I think...http://planetbounceparty.com/owners.html.

When it's not raining, there are all sorts of wonderful free parks/rec centers - Land O Lakes on Collier, Lake Park on North Dale Mabry...

Another place my daughter loves to go to is the pet store. There's a great one on North Dale Mabry, Petland. You can actually handle the pets they have - dogs, cats, hamsters, birds, etc.

Barnes and Nobles also has a free storytime. You can go to their website to find a location nearest to you.

Hope that sparks some ideas....have fun!

Suncoast Gymnastics on Congress has an "open play" time for toddler/preschoolers on Tuesday and Fridays..you don't need to be a member; just pay as you go.

Hi Sarah:
I had the same problem when my son was born he's two now. We live in NPR also. The YMCA has a Mommy and Me Program in the morning. If you can't afford a full membership you can apply for a scholarship. In addition to that, you have the advantage of working out while your child has socialization time with children in his age group. The libraris in the area also have story time and crafts, etc. might be nice to check that out too. Sometimes it's hard to find things to do with a small child, it may be outside and while your child may be young yet-you can always count on Ronald Mcdonald. My son loves to just go and play. Good luck, I'm sure you'll find something worth while.

Hi Sarah!

I am a SAHM nearby in Holiday just off US 19 and Flora Ave. I care for a few children in my home for friends that work...so if what your looking for is playtime with others then feel free to give me a call. I wouldn't mind another little one around at all. I have play areas all over my house for little ones of all ages up to Kindergarten. We moved here from Ohio/Indiana a few years ago. We both went to college in Michigan...what part are you from? Anyways, I wish you the best!
