Hi
I am looking to buy a play kitchen for my sons 3yrs and 1 yrs.....any suggestions. They are pretty tall for their age, so I don't want something that is too small. Let me know the brand/make/model of the one you bought. I don't want to spend more than 130.

What can I do next?

we got a nice old used one on craigslist. No idea what brand, but it pays to look for a wood one. Nice quality and lasts.

i agree with laurie. it's one of those high-dollar items that people buy then the kids play with for a week or two and never touch again. they are ALWAYS on craigslist. check it out and you can take your kids with you to see if they are a right "fit". good luck!

From my experience, play kitchens do not come cheap, therefore I would suggest checking craigslist.com or our local goodwill.

All of the Step 2 kitchens are really great. You can view them all here: http://www.step2.com/category.cfm?subcategory=1026

I would recommend the Lifestyle Dream Kitchen, which is a tiny bit over your budget but if you shop around, you might find a better price (like on Amazon). We have this one and it's great for my 3 year old son.

I also really like this one, which for some reason, doesn't show up on the other page: http://www.step2.com/product.cfm?product_id=1397 We have this one at my parents' house and again, it's great for my 3 year old. He started using it around 18 months and was too short at that time to reach the microwave, but it didn't take long before he could reach everything. He is 90th% for height. Here is a link to it with the old color scheme (which is what I have): http://www.amazon.com/STEP2-UK-767800-Party-Kitchen/dp/B0...

Otherwise, the Lifestyle Custom Kitchen also looks pretty good, though a bit smaller and possibly a little cramped if two kids are playing at once.

we have a step 2 kitchen similar to this one http://www.walmart.com/ip/Step-2-Custom-Kitchen-Cooking-E... my 8 year old even plays with it. It doesn't make a lot of noise which is one thing I really like about it. They have to use their imaginations.

we got our 3 year old son (he's tall too, 90%) the modern lines kitchen from step 2. it is the only one i found that wasn't girlie in appearance. it was less than 100 and no tax and free shipping.

Are you sure that your son's will play with the kitchen? I wanted to buy my daughter a play kitchen, but I wasn't sure if it would be worth spending the money on if she wasn't going to play with it. I found a small kitchen less than $50 at Wal-mart. It doesn't really have any of the bells and whistles that other kitchens have and is definitely not as pretty or the best quality, BUT, it was a great way to see if she would play with it. I'm glad I got it because she really doesn't play with it very much, in fact, when we go over other kids houses, she really doesn't play with their kitchens either. She is only 2, so maybe as she gets older and starts to show more of an interest, I will get her a better one. Just a suggestion for you.

I'm currently looking at the KidKraft ones. I've found that Walmart.com has the best prices for them. They have one in primary colors (more for unisex) and it's $132. Here's the link:

My kids are 5 & 3 & still play with the McDonalds drive-thru. It's not a kitchen but makes sounds & they can play together since it's dbl sided. It's really cute & a lit less expensive than kitchens. For sure do craigslist.
