Placenta Encapsulation Anyone?

I'm just wondering if anyone has tried this yet? I know in many parts of the world (and in other animals), the placenta is eaten to help stave off postpartum depression and other things. I am now trying it and it really seems to be working. I was just wondering what others had experienced?

What can I do next?

I did this and it seemed to work for me. My doula told me to take 2 pills twice a day from the very beginning. I didn't wait for any signs of PPD to show up... I just took them, so I couldn't tell you if they prevented me from getting PPD or not. I got the normal baby blues in the first couple of weeks but after that I didn't feel anything more severe than the common frustrations that any mom feels.

My husband dried and ground mine for me. I did not experience PPD this time around though and will save it for menopause if needed.

Interesting! I know animals do this but didn't know people do. I watched a show where some cultures bury it then plant a tree with it.

I didn't do it, but have had experience with our animals eating the placenta. It is pretty common in the animal world, both with the carnivores (cats and dogs) and the herbivores (horses, cattle, goats). I don't remember a time when the mother didn't eat the placenta, now that I think about it.
