My husband did it last summer. It was cake compared to a womans tubal ligation. He was gone for 90 minutes and drove himself home. We paid a $15 co-pay, and insurance paid the rest. Best and easiest decision we've ever made!
I just had baby #3. I would love to have just one more but I am definitely not having another c-section or want to go through another pregnancy. So my hubby and I decided 3 is enough for us and we are considering him having a vasectomy. I'm just wondering what are others opinions on the best kind of permanent birth control?

My understanding is that a vasectomy is the safest/least invasive version of permanent birth control. Having said that.. read the fine print! A friend of mine had baby girl #3 and they decided they were finished and he had a vasectomy. Well, apparently you are supposed to wait a very specific period of time before having unprotected sex. They did not and she had a beautiful baby girl #4 last month!
Research the Essure procedure. My BFF had it and had wonderful results. They put a small spring like item in the tube and it is treated with a chemical to promote tissue growth. The tube becomes clogged up and it is permanent birth control. There is totally minimal side effects. She had one day of very light cramps the day of the procedure and nothing since. The doc went back and tested the procedure and it was successful. Her insurance said at first they wouldn't pay due to deductible not being met but they reimbursed her for almost all of it.
Hysterectomy you'll never conceive again....
Many OB/gyn offices are doing a new procedure where essential it's like a tubal, but without surgery. They essentially induce scar tissue in your fallopian tubes to cut them off. It is said to be more effective than a vasectomy. I think it's called Essure.
My Mr. had a vasectomy years ago. It was easy, fast, and he was up and moving the next day.
I highly recommend it.
