Just FYI childrens Pepto is NOT the same as adult pepto, it has the same ingredients as Tums, Pepto is NOT a good idea and Tums won't help with diarrhea either so I'm afraid it's the old fashioned fluids and BRAT diet.
Hey I just got up with my daughter she has diarriah, can i give her a little bit of pepto?

Give her the grated skin of an apple. Also give her some acidophilus for at least a week to put the normal flora back into her system

Check ingredients. I think pepto contains aspirin, which you should never give to a child (because of Reye Syndrome). Our pediatrician recommends yogurt, rice, bananas, and to keep her hydrated. They don't recommend any drugs for children's diarrhea. If she is otherwise ok, you can watch her for a day or two. If she has other symptoms, or it doesn't go away in a day or two, it's worth calling the doctor.
Pedialyte would be MUCH better than pepto for her. Check out www.askdrsears.com or www.mothering.com.
Good luck, so sad when the babes are sick.

Well that all depends on what school you are. Pepto is safe for children in small doses. But if you read the bottle anymore it doesn't say it isn't but it doesn't say it's safe. Because everyone is so scared anymore. I give a small amount to my daughter when i think she needs some. They do make children's Pepto but you know it's the same thing just more money. lol good luck
I wouldn't do that without asking for a dosage from your pediatirician. I thik my pediatrician said I could give malox but it was a really really small amount, like half a teaspoon, so I am worried you might overdo it.
Give her lots of fluids.

No, because it contains aspirin. Aspirin in small children can cause Reye's Syndrome, which turns diarrhea into something far more serious. I have always just avoided anything with aspirin.
Keep your daughter hydrated (pedialyte is best). You can also try the BRAT diet (Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast). Watch for high fever and call her ped, if you can't keep it under control.
I'm so sorry your little girl is feeling bad and I hope she recovers quickly.

Nope, there's aspirin in it.
whoa, my understanding is that the skin of an apple is where the fiber is, so that's the opposite of what you want to do (responding to the last poster). the reason that apple sauce is constipating (and thus a good idea for helping w/ diarrhea) is b/c it lacks the skin. that's why applesauce constipates but eating a whole apple doesn't. if you just give the skin you will exacerbate the problem. maybe there's something else about the skin of the apple that helps w/ diarrhea? but I've never heard of it and from what I do know, it doesn't make sense. acidophilus is a great suggestion, though.
also, as folks have mentioned, the BRAT diet is a good natural way to slow things down (try to use whole grain rice and bread, not white, and avoid high fructose corn syrup in the bread). so is dairy; yogurt is going to be particularly helpful b/c of the live cultures which can help ease whatever's going on to cause the diarrhea in the first place. but get plain, whole milk yogurt, and not the flavored kind b/c there's so much sugar and if she's already having tummy problems you don't want to add to it (you can mix in some applesauce to make it tastier and help slow things down all at once!). plus, sugar has a loosening effect on the bowel, which is not what you want!
and snuggles. she needs lots of snuggles. :)
I do the BRAT diet...bananas, rice, applesauce, toast.
I probably wouldn't give her regular pepto, but they do have a children's version in chewable form. It says it's for 2-5 year olds.
Don't do pepto because of the aspirin in it. I have a two year old and I have given him a teaspoon of immodium and it worked great.
I wouldn't. Even though they make it for children most pediatricians advise against it. Instead cut the milk and dairy out since they tend to aggrivate it, Clear fluids are good, water, sprite, gatorade, Stick with the B.R.A.T diet. bananas rice applesauce and toast. Anything bland will do. Hope this helps
I see this was from 2 days ago so I hope your daughter is feeling better now. Most doctors will recommend you keep your child hydrated, some will say use pedialyte and others may say water is your best bet. I am not a doctor but I'm sure if you read the label it will tell you if it is safe to give a child pepto, or to contact your doctor. If you look up online it will also tell you other symptoms to look for or how long your child can even have diarrhea before you definitely need to take them to the doctor.
They make childrens pepto now. they are chewable tablets.
There is a children's pepto for kids over 2. It works great! I use it with my little one.
I know I am a little late responding to this...
There is a Childrens Pepto. I've given it to my daughter. There is an 800 number on the back of the bottle that you can call and ask questions about giving it to your child. As long as she falls under the weight requirement, she should be fine.
Hope she feels better soon!
I wouldn't. Try bananas...they always worked for us.
Good luck!
Our doctor told us no pepto. He recommended the BRAT diet - Bananas, rice, apple sauce and toast. It has always worked pretty quickly for us.
I would call her doctor & see what they say you should do but they do make a kids pepto.
everything i have read says no! i am not sure why but there is no medicine that is recommended for children with diarrhea. restrict hard to digest foods esp. dairy but encourage fluids. good luck.

Just an FYI: be careful before giving Pepto. It contains aspirin.
I am sure it is fine but you might want to check with your doctor first since they do not want aspirin given to children. However, like I said, I am sure it is a minute amount.
