Hi. I was wondering if anyone could recommend to me a good pediatrician....that is OK with an altered vaccine schedule. I am not going to give my daughter the MMR shot until she's older. Her current doctor was not pleased w/ my decision to do this, so I'm finding a new dr that supports my decision to do what i feel is right for her. I live in Tomball, but I'd be willing to drive to take her to a good doctor.
Please, if you know of someone, Please let me know...I need to find a good doctor for my little girl.

What can I do next?

Who is your current pediatrician? I live in Tomball and take my 5 year old son to Pediatric and Adolescent Center of Northwest Houston, but I ONLY recommend seeing Dr. Singh. We have been going there since my son was abt 1.5 years and he has seen just about every one of the dr's there, and Dr. Singh has NEVER been less than supportive when it comes to the shots. I didnt do the MMR until my son was over 2 years old, and we still havent done the chicken pox shot, since I homeschool. Anyhow, I have had LESS than stellar experiences with some of the other doctors there, not to mention a scare from a later very apologetic doctor (suffrage) but Dr. Singh is wonderful.
They are at 455 School St. in Tomball and you can call @ ###-###-####.

Hi Laura,

I have a 2 year old daughter and she has never received any vaccines. The pediatrician that I have seen once just after she was born is Dr. Parkerson at Sterling Ridge Pediatrics in The Woodlands. Her number is ###-###-####. She didn't question why were were not vaccinating our daughter and was very nice, supportive and not judgemental. We have not been back to see her because there has not been any need to and they have never pressured us to come in for an appointment. My husband is a chiropractor (Family Focus Chiropractic) in Tomball and with regular adjustments our daughter has never been sick and has been fine without any vaccines.

Hi Laura-

I take my children to Step Pediatrics in The Woodlands. Their physician (Dr. Audrey Tamm) was always supportive of my choices, however she has recently left the practice. I've switched to Dr. Purcell and while I have not actually had an appointment with her, when I took my 10 month old in for his latest vaccination with the nurse (he receives one shot per month instead of 4 at each visit) I received a call the next day from the nurse practioner wishing to touch base and set up a schedule for the remaining vaccines so that Dr. Purcell would know where we were going. I took this as being very proactive and supportive on Dr. Purcell's part. There was no pressure, just her wanting to know what my feelings were and how I wanted to proceed. She was also supportive of my desire to separate the MMR into separate vaccinations when the time comes.

Good Luck,
K.

Laura,

I did a 'modified' vaccine schedule in that I gave my daughter all of the vaccinations but only one per visit with a month in between each so as to not overwhelm her prremie immune system. Cost more but eased my mind considerably. Dr. O'Neil at Texas CHidlren's in Sterling Ridge/The wWoodlands is our pedi and we really like her. However, if there are specific reasons that your pedi is concerned, hope you'll be able to take glean that info and use it to your child's best interest.

Good luck.

Laura,

If you do not follow the recommended American Academy of Pediatrics vaccination schedule, you are putting your daughter at risk and being irresponsible. Please explain why you don't want to give her the MMR at the recommended time. If you DO find a doctor that will alter the schedule, run from them! I will pray for you to change your mind.

Peace,
C.

Hi Laura,

We are also on Dr. Sears' Alternative Vaccine Schedule and have been seeing Dr. Sherri Sandifer of FM 1960 Pediatric Center. We have seen Dr. Weinberg on occasion, who will follow the schedule but is not supportive of it. However, I have not had any issue with Dr. Sandifer on it and highly recommend her. Here is their link:

I had also put a request out for a vaccine friendly doctor in The Woodlands and someone suggested Dr. Bhakta. Here is his link as well. Good luck!

To everyone else who responded -- Dr. Bob Sears' website has a place for vaccine friendly doctors to be listed. When I was initially looking for one, I couldn't find any for Houston. I emailed him our list from MamaSource but he needs the doctors to email him so he can add them to the website list at http://www.askdrsears.com/thevaccinebook/Vaccine_Friendly...
If you feel so inclined, please ask your doctor to email Dr. Sears at ____@____.com and have themselves added to the Vaccine Friendly Doctors list. Thanks!!
