So I was watching "A Baby Story" and long story short the dad is a chiropractor and immediately after giving birth he adjusted the babies spine and had done it with all of his previous children! Of course I started googling an was surprised to see that this was a common practice. Apperently it can help with lots of health issues including digestion and respritory problems. I think its kinda cool and am considering making an appointment to have my newborn and 2 yr old checked out! Any experience with this???

My daughter has been getting adjustments since birth. She is very healthy and has never taken antibiotics. They can do adjustments to help the sinuses and ears drain. She also had an extreme flat spot on her head, to the point that her face was crooked and within two week it was gone. My daughter and I go for well visits about every two weeks. We go to a holistic chiropractor, they can help with homeopathy and herbal remedies too.

My first daughter got her first adjustment at 14 months after a febrile seizure. My second daughter didn't go home (from the hospital) until we had stopped at our chiropractor. Chiropractic care is an amazing science. It solidifies that the body can heal itself if the neurological system is working at it's optimum. Think about the trauma that childbirth does to a small spine...

My oldest also had ear infections and after a few adjustments never had another one. The pediatrician wanted to do surgery and implant tubes but the invasion into the body and the things I had read scared me enough to try something different. Praise God I did. We have been in chiropractic care for 19 years now and rarely get sick. If we do, a quick visit to the chiropractor usually knocks it out within hours.

If you don't have one or don't know of one in your area go to www.upcspine.com and find one. Interview them as you would a pediatrician. If they don't understand that the immune system is controlled by the spine, keep looking.

Hope this helps!

I used to take my twins in for adjustments to help with their reflux. I plan on taking them when/if they get ear infections instead of using antibiotics. I also see the chiropractor to help with my own chronic sinus congestion and reflux. I love going to the chiropractor!

Our son went to a pediatric chiro/craniosacral therapist at two weeks. There's a history of slight scoliosis in my husband's family (he and his mom, both) so we wanted the therapy as a preventative measure. Our experiences have been good, but now that Kiddo's older, he doesn't want to go in for "pop pop" so often, so we save it for more necessary time.

A year or so ago, Kiddo fell down the last part of our old wooden stairs and onto his back and side. He seemed "off" the next couple days and so we took him in for adjustment. He was right as rain when finished.

Studies in Europe (Denmark, I believe) also suggest that pediatric Chiro is highly effective at treating colic.

My chiropractor does this as well, and I take my kids to him. He was the only chiropractor that we have ever found, to can "fix" my husbands hip problem after he hurt it. He practices something called the "uppper blair cervical procedure" I think that is what it is called. And all he does, is adjust your spine, from the neck down. Anyway, I think chiropractors are awesome and don't get as much credit as they should.

Yep, my husband is a Chiro. He has adjusted out daughter since birth. So far she has never had an ear infection, started sleeping through the night a 7 weeks, and is rarely sick.

We had planned on taking my son around 2 weeks old but since he was premie we couldn't until he was 6 weeks old. Now he's 5 1/2 and He goes about once a month. It makes him feel better
Added: I don't know if it makes anyone healthier, even though my son goes he's still had his fair share of sickness, and tummy issues. Like i said it makes him feel better so that's why we take him.

Absolutely! I've been adjusted since childhood. I work for a chiropractor and have seen many children adjusted from infancy, including my own kids. We get sick less often, less severely, and I've seen it help with ear infections, bed wetting, colic, and more. It works and it's wonderful! Natural, safe, gentle.

Eta: for the same reason you wouldn't see a study in drugs done by chiropractors?! Why would someone do a study on a field not related to their own? :)

I have no experience with chiropractics, but I know a lot of folks swear by it, and I'll be honest, the thought of messing with a newborn's joints and skeletal system just seems very counterintuitive to me. In an attempt to learn more, I googled it too, and I also found lots of sites saying it's a safe and helpful practice for newborns...all of these sites were sponsored by chiropractors. In my quick search, I didn't see any non-chiroprator-sponsored studies on the topic, but I would certainly encourage you to seek out information from the opposing side (if any exists; I dunno!) just so you can make an informed decision based on a broad base of both biased and non-biased (if it's available, I dunno!) information.

At any rate, congrats on your newborn, good luck, and as always, enjoy your kids!

(As a P.S. to all the other posters so far -- I'm somewhat relieved to hear there are so many positive experiences with chiropractics out there. I'm getting the sense that it's super-helpful for adults...I'm just still skeeved out by the inclusion of babies, sorry! Call it my weird instinct. Glad your experiences have been positive though! :)
