I also suggest you see the doctor. I've never been pregnant nor have I breast fed but I've had mastitis. That is a possibility.
Hello Moms,
I haven't posted in a while but had a question...
Over the past few weeks my breasts have been sensitive. There is always a chance I could be pregnant. My left breast began burning today. I have heard this happens sometimes in pregnancy. Does anyone have thoughts? The right breast is tender but the left oen hurts so bad tears have fallen.
Blessings,
K.S.

Hi KS,
Breast pain is really common. One day my left breast sent shooting, burning pains from the armpit to the nipple. I hadn't been breastfeeding for over a year so I was freaked out! I went to the Dr. who told me breast pain is really common, CONFIRMED nothing was there to worry about and suggested I take vitamin E on a regular basis. Since then no problem. Go to the Dr. because if nothing else it will ease your mind. My mind was racing with all kinds of terrible things and it was such a relief to hear it from a professional.
Best,
T.
Best of luck to you!
Others mentioned mastitis, but I also wanted to mention the possibility of thrush. This is a systemic yeast infection that can cause shooting pains in your breasts. If you have any signs of a vaginal yeast infection, it is more probable that you have thrush. It's easily treatable with an oral antifungal, probiotics, and/or grapefruit seed extract. Definitely see your doctor for diagnosis. Good luck!
Well, you could take a urine test and find out whether or not you are pregnant, that might explain some things. However, pregnant or not, if the pain is so bad that it makes you cry, see your doctor.
Women can get mastitis (an infection of the breast) even when they are not lactating and, not to alarm you, but inflammatory breast cancer can exhibit similar symptoms, so you REALLY want to get checked out!
Good luck!
Hello KS-
I've studied parenting/ pregancy and birth for MANY years. When you first said your breasts were sore I thought pregancy. I suggest you take a pregancy test.
I also suggest you do a self breast exam to look for abnormal growths.
If you're not pregnant or ready to start your period, then call the doctor and have an exam.
I wish you the best.

No, that is not a sign of pregnancy. Burning breasts is a sign of trouble. You need to see your doctor. Burning breast is a sign of breast infection, or even breast cancer and needs to be looked at.
When your breast get sore as a sign of pregnancy, it is just tender when pressed... exactly the same as when you are on your period.
You might have a plugged duct (the first step before mastitis) I get them alot if I am not getting enough rest, drinking enough water or nursing enough or a combo of any of those. Examine your breasts for any hard lumps or redness. If you suspect you do, soaking the breast in hot water right before you feed and getting more rest are the things that worked best for me to get rid of it but you can research more about it online.
I know people have responded but you need to go to a dr , something is wrong
Time to see your doc.
Of course rule out pregnancy and abnormal growths. I also get extremely sore breasts from time to time, and my midwife suggested I take evening primrose oil during these times. Three capsules 3x/day for several days usually does the trick for me.
Get to your doctor ASAP. It could be a lot of things, but it could be something serious. Don't take any chances, call your Doctor today.
