For me, I am happy that my DD got an accelerated reading prize today, and she has already read 24 books since school started (the minimum for the YEAR is 100). Just so happy that she naturally loves reading! And, her teacher is the best & the polar opposite of her frazzled & crazy Kinder teacher. Really, I am just happy, in general, that we seem to doing pretty well & am so thankful for everything we have.

Tonight is the first Varsity football game of the season. My daughter is Varsity Cheer Captain and will be leading her squad on the field for the first time.

I know the year will fly by since it is her Senior year but I am ready for Friday Night Football!

I am so proud of her, her hard work, determination and drive. She is also in the middle of applying for early admission to Duke! If she gets accepted to her dream school... all of you Moms on this board will hear be cheering from Texas!!

My daughter is visiting just for the weekend - the one who was married in June and is now living in Alaska! She talks about how she and her husband are adjusting to married life, and how it's more than worth the work that it takes to make a good marriage. Good for her! I'm proud of them both.

My 11 month old finally learned how to pet the dog nicely! She goes over and touches her very gently, then looks at me to get approval. It's so freaking cute! The cats tails are another story!

And my 7 year old was chosen to be a new student buddy in her classroom because she is considered a great representative of her school for how she treats others and has great social skills(a skill she thankfully got from daddy!). Made us very proud that she was recognized and was picked out of her entire class!

And I really wish I could get the freaking flies in my house! Damn cat is t doing what she usually does!

I am happy that I finally killed the damn fly that has been in my house since last night. To my neighbors, I may have looked like a bit of an idiot jumping towards my kitchen skylight for the past 12 minutes, but I finally got that sucker and won't have to hear his wings buzzing around my bedroom tonight!

Score: Kate - 1; Fly - 0

I'm happy there are so many amaaaaazing people in my life!!! (Seriously, really, and truly amazing).

I'm happy my son is asleep upstairs :) :) :)
(I'm always happy when he's home).

I'm happy about this completely unexpected avenue I landed in recently, and ALSO that it has added even more amazing people into my and my son's lives. Major frosting, on some reeeeeeeally spectacular cake to begin with!

I'm happy my parents are going on vacation. (Yay mum & dad! You desserve it!!! Hugs to you!)

I'm happy 2 of my friends are getting married!

I'm happy that I'm getting divorced. (Over the moon happier every time I turn around).

I'm happy that getting divorced hasn't totally embittered me (despite how cranky I've been on here lately). I'M not dating, etc.... but I'm still totally thrilled for OTHER people falling in and committing to love. Awesome. Hehehe. So totally cool.

I'm happy I can ALMOST read the arabic alphabet. (Okay, I can read it, I just can't sound it out. Step 2. Sight reading / sounding things out. Nothing like developing compassion for early readers than learning a completely different alphabet!).

I'm happy that I quit smoking last week. (Yeesh. I take that back. I'm periodically happy about it, and periodically think I'm nuts. ROFL... My son is ticked about it, though. It's his go-to gripe, and now he's trying to come up with new ones. Hilariously funny. He's tried out a number of various habits of mine on for gripe-size, but hasn't settled on one yet. It's fun to watch. So far it's been shampoo choice, sock color, how I close one eye when I'm reading... seriously funny stuff.). I'm REALLY happy that (touch wood) it's going so completely differently than any other time I've quit smoking.

- I'm happy I'm gradually fixing the rest'o'my'life.

Lots and lots and lots and lots of other things I'm super happy about as well.

Love your question! Great reminder to stop and be thankful

I am happy and greatful to be in a wonderful relationship where I am truly loved
I'm happy my kids are home and had a good summer with their dad
I'm happy my son has his license and can help drive his sister around
I'm happy for him that hunting season starts Saturday
I'm happy my daughter is a very organized, funny, bright, amazing young woman who suddenly looks so grown-up (slight tear)
I'm happy my son is a junior (another tear) and is trying to figure out what he wants for his life
I'm happy my SS did not break his arm in football - only a contusion
I'm happy my brother is very willingly in recovery

OK, I'll stop now, but think someone should put this up once a week to remind everyone what we all have to be thankful for and happy about.

Have a great weekend!

Life is about the little moments and the summation of them all. Mine is having gone away on my first overnite trip with my two-year-old. We haven't had a vacation since before she was born, and this overnight trip to my former college roommate's beach house worked wonders on my spirit.

Our families blended beautifully. The day was picture perfect and the night boardwalk stroll as well.

My daughter slept away from home wonderfully, even though I did not!

Yes, the little things.

Great post.

My children swam today. Float, kick, and stroke, all on their own. They've been practicing a lot at this, gaining courage, working up to it. They came out of the water beaming and proud. I wanted to be a town crier; announce it to the world.

A few days back I got my book list for school. It. Is. Going. To. Be. A-MAZING.

I was able to visit my eldest's school and youngest's childcare. Both give me a really good feeling. A nice thing for a mom whose going to be away from her kids for this long each day!

One of my very, very best friends came back into town. I've missed her so much. We got to spend an hour chatting and catching up tonight. Heaven.

I filed scary papers into the court today. Not happy, I suppose, but a relief to have the ball rolling. Deep breaths. Think positive thoughts.

My husband got stung by a jellyfish on his FACE at work today. That wasn't great, of course, but his story made me laugh my buns off. A nice way to spend the evening, laughing is.

Oh, and this little clip. IT has me laughing.

So many things.. Our daughter is employed and doing very well, keeps being offered other jobs.. It is helping her gain confidence.

My husband got rid of a pain in the behind employee, by helping her find a new job elsewhere he says this week has been so great.. everyone is relieved she is gone.

Tonight, my Nephew, won an important football game as the quarterback of the team! He was so sweet, they were interviewing him, he looked so grown up, then he spotted me and my mom (his grandmother) he ran over to us, grabbed our hands and kissed them told us, he loved us and was happy we came to the game. He also thanked my mom , his grandmother, for volunteering up at the school this week for the Booster Club.. He is such a sweet young man.

We are very fortunate. I will take this sweet moment in time and store it up for those tough times, that may show up.

Three of my friends just had different surgeries - two went in with diagnoses of "dicey," and one went in with "hopefully, this will make life better." All three just had wonderful follow up visits, and are going to be better than expected!

My dad has been retired for years, and saw an ad in the paper for a job he had always wanted to do, but didn't pay well enough for him to quit his "real job" while we were growing up. After he retired, he wanted a part-time job for extra income, and when this position came up, he jumped at it, and finally got a dream job, which he is enjoying just as much as he'd hoped!

My daughter LOVES first grade, and my youngest is EXCITED about starting preschool next week!

And, perhaps a bit selfishly:
I finally have the whole year's calendar, and all the paperwork so far, set up for our Girl Scout troop this year - I'm the assistant leader this year!

I get a girl's night out tomorrow, for a girlfriend's 40th birthday party!

I finally got the big "clutter spot" in the kitchen cleaned up - and it's been clear for three days. It's a record!

Lots of happy going around right now.

my 25yo son & I had an evening together. We share BDs & it's coming up next week. I was painting my nails after a 14 hour day. & he was rolling coins after going thru a very serious dr appt. He was also in the process of recovering his bombed laptop.

To lighten the mood, as he rolled coins, I kept playing with a superhero action figure. & oh, man....those coin stacks were kicked, rolled on, & even a paratrooper landed on them. All was a.o.k. by the time....I won the match! His coins were everywhere! I loved hearing him say, "Good God, Mom! Would you please just behave?" LOL....a very good night!

I teach, and I am so happy to have fabulous classes this year! We're off to a very positive start.

My boys are off to excellent starts, as well. I love my youngest son's 3rd grade teacher, and he does, too. My oldest started high school this week, and he is taking quite challenging classes, but is loving every minute of it. I'm so proud of both of my guys!

My husband has done a wonderful job of moving into the school year routine by helping out more around the house. During the summer I am home and have time to do most of the cleaning, laundry, and cooking, but during the school year I need more help from my husband and the boys. They all pitched in this week without me even having to ask. That makes me VERY happy! :)

Our dishwasher has been broken since Sunday and the 'high end' part needed for the repair might be in tomorrow and might not.

Tonight my son had his best friend over for dinner, then his little brother tagged along, but I had grilled a huge package of rib eye steaks a couple of days before so there was plenty. Afterwards, all the kids lined up in the kitchen and helped me wash and rinse and hand dry 2 days worth of dishes, pots, pans, tupperware, tea mugs, etc. We had a blast!! It was great chatting with the kids and we talked about our favorite summer memories.

Yeah for broken dish washers!!
