OUCH! - Pelvic Pains

I am the working mother of a beautiful 2 1/2 year old girl. My husband and I are starting to talk about getting pregnant again. We decided that I should go ahead and stop taking the pill to allot for the recommended 3-5 months to let it "get out of your system." I took my last pill three weeks ago. A few days ago, I began cramping in my lower pelvic area. My ovaries feel enlarged and it's hurting so badly now that I can hardly move my lower body.

My hubby tells me that this happened last time I quit taking the pill (I got pregnant very easily with my daughter). I do not remember and I'm a little worried. Has anyone else experienced anything like this before?

What can I do next?

I have horrible pains like that when I am ovulating. Since you just got off of the pill that is probably what is going on. You still may want to go see your dr. but it’s probably just severe ovulation pains.

You may want to call your docter to check, but I remember when i went of birth control when my husband and I were trying for number 2. I had some pretty bad cramps and pains. Also, my first period off of BC was 13 days long, so don't be surprised if weird things go on right after you stop. I was told be body would even itself out, but I went off BC at the end of September and i got pregnant in November, so I don't know what would have happened. Don't be fooled if you get pregnant right away. It happens, especially if you had an easy time with your 1st!

Don't know if I've ever heard that before, it could be your body adjusting to the sudden lack of hormones. You should call or make an appointment with your OB, especially if you're worried, added stress won't help you get pregnant. Take a pregnancy test too, you never know! Good luck!

Hi Sharon,
I'm guessing you are starting to ovulate again. Having been off birth control pills for many years I can now usually feel when I'm ovulating, about 2 weeks or so after my period. It's a pain and pressure in my abdomen. It lasts for a few days. When I did go off the pill to get pregant I must have ovulated fairly quickly. Two times I waited one cycle to try and got pregnant the next cycle. One time I went off and got pregant 3 weeks later. Hope you are feeling better soon. A.
