I suggest you call the company from whom you made the purchase.
For me, I will NEVER give up my cast iron pans.
Some go back as far as my GREAT grandma...
Just my opinion!
best!
Hi,
I bought an Orgreenic pan the other day. I seasoned it as the directions said, lightly oil and bake in a 350 degree oven for an hour. When it was done the surface felt sticky. Did I add too much oil? Is there a way to fix it?
I do have a few cast iron pans waiting to be reseasoned, but in the meantime what can I do to salvage the Orgreenic one?
thanks

I googled "seasoning orgreenic pans." These directions did not say bake in oven. They said to heat oil on medium heat on burner until Iit smokes, swirling the oil in the pan.I suggest you are confusing seasoning these pans with seasoning cast iron tho I thought one used a lower temperature in the oven for cast iron.
I have cooked food on high heat for too long in non-stick cookware and oiled a cookie sheet and over time the result was a sticky residue such as you describe. I've never found a way to remove it. The pan was no longer non-stick.
I have a ceramic fry pan purchased locally that I've not seasoned. I use a small amount of oil with it.The label didn't mention seasoning. I rarely use it because I've found anolon hard anodized non stick to be superior. For the first time I'm able to saute with no oil.
Later: A couple of days ago, I discovered one of my nonstick cookie sheets had gummy oil residue. I was able to take it off with a "Magic Eraser. " I tried a Scotch brand similar to the "Magic Eraser" brand and it didn't work.
I have no idea what an Orgreenic pan is and I have no interest.
I do use a lot of cast iron pans, some were my grandmother's.
Other than my cast iron, I use stainless high end All Clad that is over 8 yrs old and still looks new.
I'd try cooking in it. I didn't know it had to be seasoned. I had a friend who was moving and wanted all new pots and pans. I'd see a commercial for them and I told her about them. I don't know if it worked out or not.
I know that I often get sticky residue on my cast iron and I use salt and oil to clean it. BUT I also wash it with soapy water in the dishpan if it's gross. Then I do the veggie oil and salt. Then wipe it off. I haven't had any issues with that mix.
After trying to cook in it you'll know a couple of things. 1, if the way they say season the pan works or it doesn't. and 2, if it's the best it's ever going to get then you know it's not the pan for you.
What did you oil it with? It sounds like you used some Pam type spray. If that is the case you will have to scrub that off and hope that doesn't ruin the pan, then start over.
