Hi All,
I need to reformat my computer, and usually anything I need to keep I put on my hubby's computer but he has been moving it around and "fixing' it for a couple months, and I can't wait anymore. So, I was thinking of using an online storage space for a short time to put my stuff on like pictures, word documents, a few movies, etc. Have any of you done this? Do you have any recommendations?
I am looking for one that is:
1. Easy to put stuff on
2. Easy to take stuff off
3. Can pay for a short time since I don't need it all the time.

Thanks for any help you can give me. This is a new area for me but I need to get rid of these viruses.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks Katrina.....we have one, but my wonderful hubby took it apart and put it in his computer that is being fixed. :) and I can't afford another one right now.

Thanks all! I looked a few, and I agree, we went a bought a new external drive from Best Buy. It was just the safest way to go. I don't want all my info on the web to be found, especially when I won't even put it on Facebook.

I would recommend getting an external terabyte drive instead of paying to use online storage.
It just plugs into a USB on your computer and you can drag and drop things just like you move things around on your computer.
It's a good idea to have your files in a second place other than on your computers harddrive anyway.
They aren't that expensive. Costco very often has great deals on them.

Sam's club has Toshiba external drives that are about the size of a paperback, and hold 1.5 Tb., running about $80.

Tell hubby to be careful, as depending on the company of the external drive, it will NOT work in a standard PC, as they were made for external storage and have controller cards designed for such usage. The only ones I know that don't are WD, and I'd never use them for anything but a paperweight, as they are not reliable, unless he got a HD and bought an external case.

BTW, they also make USB jump drives up to 32gb and depending on your needs, that might be a better option.

I have used online storage, and they got hacked(out of business too, so not mentioning them). I trust online data services as far as I can toss them.

Just my 2cp.

buy an external drive. You can get them at Target, Wal-Mart, Costco, Best Buy and even Radio Shack I believe.

Then mark on your calender once a month to update it and store it in a safe so should something bad happen - water damage, fire, flood, etc. your information won't be lost.

Most probably is okay but I use Carbonite. It takes your files from your computer and stores them on, I believe, ICloud. You can access them from any computer by going to carbonite.com.
