Get the hair, nail, and skin vitamins from the store. Olive oil is suppose to give your hair shine, I would just put a little, too much and it will look greasy.
Hi ladies, I had it. My hair is totally dull and I did not stop loosing my hair since I had my second kid and he is two now!...I went to a "specialist" who ended up charging me 150 dollars (not covered by my insurance) and prescribing me Rogaine thank-you-very-much. So now I am going back to basics, there mas be some vitamin I am lacking so I started taking my vitamins again, but I was wondering if you all know of any home treatments o a great product out there to give my hair some shine and life again.
Thanks so much for taking the time!.
Ale

Thank goodness their is someone else out their that had the same problem!!! I thought I was the only one going crazy. After having my first and all the way till this March my hair kept falling out and my son is 2 1/2 years old. I was told I also needed to get on vitamins but not just any but ones that were very soluble. Ever since I got on to the vitamins I have noticed a difference so hopefully you will too. good luck and let me know how everything goes?
A hot oil massage with coconut oil or neem oil (available at any Indian store) will go a long way to make your hair soft. This is a very traditional Indian practice. Warm a little bit in the microwave and massage it in with your fingers. If you can sleep with it on then there is nothing like it. It will also give you a good night sleep since it has a cooling effect. Place a thick towel on your pillow otherwise the oil will leave a stain. The next day wash it off. If you cannot keep it overnight then keep it on for 2 hours. Do it once a week. Try it....you will not be disappointed.
You might want to make sure your doctor checks your thyroid (TSH, Free T4, Free T3 and thyroid antibodies tests) at your next checkup. Hair loss is a common symptom of hypothyroidism, which is quite often triggered by childbirth, due to the hormonal changes AND the impact on the immune system. Your immune system is suppressed, so you don't reject the fetus, and it can over-react after childbirth and result in autoimmune disorders, one of which is Hashimoto's hypothyroidism. Here's a good article giving a general overview that mentions symptoms (including hair loss), noting you don't have to have all the symptoms:

My thin hair (I almost had a bald spot in the back) is now much, much fuller since I've been treated with the right levels of thyroid hormone. As that article notes, this disease is the most common endocrinological disorder after diabetes and folks know how rampant that is these days.
