My hubby is a faithful follower of the Call of Duty franchise.
Don't know much about it, but my hubby is the geeky kind and loves it.
ok I am finally breaking down & getting my DH an xbox for xmas but have no clue on what games are good what are not.. I mean he's a typical male (blood, horror, shooting, vampires etc...) & I'm sure I can choose things he will probably like but for the price I don't want to get & the game actually wasn't good.. so basically anyone have good male games there DH's have bought & said great game or games they have bought & said this sucks.. thx

My hubby says Dead Rising 2, Modern Warfare 2, Red Dead Redemption, or Final Fantasy 13. Hope this helps!
My husband is a gamer and he prefers gift cards so he can choose for himself. We like Game Stop where you can sometimes find good deals on used games and then you can sell back your games when you are done. Don't know if they have something like that out your way or not though, but letting him pick might be the best way to go.
.
my hus and child say left for dead, star wars the force unleased, levian, 2 worlds, metal of honor call of duty, halo. this if from a 21 yr. old and a 20 yr old and a 42 yr old all males. these are all blood and guts games or role playing.
halo is one that all of my sons (ages 15 - 23 and my husband play) both alone and sometimes with all 4 of them hooked up together.
Rock band is great for the whole family. My hubby is a fan of the Call of Duty games ( its an online type game so always changes) and he also liked Mass Effect. ( that was a role playing game so it has an ending eventually)
Oh goodness! LOL You will be the best wife EVER if you do that! LOL My hubby is a big gamer and we have it ALL. His very favorites are Rock Band (rock band 3 is coming out VERY soon), Halo and Modern Warefare. However, the biggest and best is coming out for the xbox 360 next month, and that's Kinect. That, along with rock band, will be WONDERFUL for your entire family. We are getting Kinect and Kinectimals for xmas this year. The technology is mind blowing. YOU are the controller. You don't hold anything at all........the Kinect reads your body movements......it's insane! Definitely go online and check it out!! If you have kids, check out Kinectimals! My kids are gonna go bonkers when they get this thing! LOL
Crackdown 1 & 2
Force Unleashed 1
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 & 2
Rock band 2 & 3
Are all great "guy" games.
Check Gamestop for used games.
If he's a type who's likely to get addicted (and if you're the type who's going to be really irked if/when he lives/eats/breaths for the game every spare/free minutes he's got), then for the sake of your marriage/family life - just get him a tie.
I 2nd not buying any games at all... or just getting 1 game (but buying an xbox usually comes with 1 year free of xbox live which has nearly every game). All you need is the internet connection.
Our hands down favorite game is any and all of the HALO series. HALO Reach is the latest... HALO Combat Evolved is the first.
Halo Combat Evolved
Halo2
Halo3
Halo3 ODST
Halo Wars
Halo Reach
Other fun ones are Assassins Creed II, Force Unleashed (starwars universe), Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, Civilization, Guitar Hero, Rockband, and... gosh tons more.
But again... xBox live has most of these games on either free demo or free demo and buy option. Why spend $60 when he can demo and try himself? Just make sure you can hook it up for xBoxLive / Netflix/ etc.
Any and all the Halo games...(we didn't really like Halo Wars)
Any and all 'Vegas' games...our favorite is Vegas 2!
Army of Two....my favorite:)
Zombie games...we like Left for Dead 1 and 2
Modern Warfare 1 and 2
All of the above are shooting games!
My hubbie has the Wii and I don't allow him the shoot 'em up games(the gory kind)- but he does sell them at his store- entertainment retail. Halo is supposed to be really good. It's a shoot 'em up game and they just came out with a new one that has gotten good reviews. My husband also enjoys the adventure type games like Zelda- they had a new one come out about 5 yrs ago that he really enjoyed. Mario Kart is a fun one that I will play with him and he will also play with the kids.
Metroid and Metroid Prime are two that my husband really enjoys playing- I think they are available on Xbox- they are a shoot 'em up/adventure game that isn't really gory at all- I let my kids watch and play these but they are challenging enough and fun enough that my husband really likes them. He also has enjoyed playing just the regular Mario games too.
I would go to a gamestop or game exchange or Hastings books(they sell new and used games) and check out the used games first. Talk with someone who works there so they can help you get a better idea of what to look for. You can get two or three used games for the price of one- and they don't need to be new games.
Have fun!

Almost all of them love the Halo games! You could also get him a gift card for Best Buy or a gaming store so he could go pick them out himself. If he likes football ,the Madden 2010 or 2011 -whatever the latest year version is -is always a pleaser here.
Based on my experience giving movies, I suggest that you buy him just one game so he can use the x-box right away and then let him choose the rest. Just because others like a game doesn't mean he would. Also, he may prefer one game over another.
Gears of War 2
Dragon Age Origins
Brutal Legend
Halo 3
Dead Rising 2
These are from my video-gamer husband :)
I would purchase the Wii. I find the graphics unbeliveable. There are so many differnent type of games that you could purchase with it.
Halo is extremely popular...be sure to get him the internet connection, they love it!
I bought my husband an xbox for our wedding anniversary...I was deemed the most awesome wife in the world.
Why don't you get him a gift card for the retail value of a game or games and then he can go pick out the ones he would like best...or you could rent him a few games to "try out" with his new toy, then give him the gift card to go buy the ones he likes.
If you will be connecting your xbox 360 to the internet, you might consider a gift card for an xbox 360 live gold membership. We have this and it not only allows him to play with others online, but we use it to view our Netflix instant watch movies and shows right on our tv.
You will be placed on a wifely pedestal and have a very happy husband. (Now if you learn to play Halo or any other multiplayer game with him...then you will move to goddess level). My husband and I beat Halo together in less than three days.
Get him a gift card to Gamestop, (they also sale used games there ). This way he can pick out the games he wants.
Call of Duties Black Ops. I strongly suggest getting him a membership to GameFly. Most games are like $50+, so it's totally worth the money to become a game fly customer. You pay a monthly fee, and get to rent games from them. My husband and kids love it, they've played so many games this past year, more than I would ever have bought them. Sometimes they will be done with a game in 3-4 day, other times they may have it for 1-2 weeks. Then some of the games they think are going to be great turn out to be a huge let down, so very glad didn't waste $50 bucks and them not liking it. Even if you do trade in the game to GameStop or GameFly, you only get 10-12 for it...
Don't post any complaints on here, of him playing his X-box too much!! :) You might want to reconsider!!

Halo is always a winner though. Also, advise which Xbox you are purchasing as that will affect the game choices. Once you do find some good titles (as I noticed reading the below comments) check ebay and amazon for some used versions and you will save a few dollars.
