My husband is treating me to a Nook...its my compilation gift to make up for my birthday & christmas last year...but i cannot decide whether to get the color or not...i like the color because i would be able to read my magazines on it (also i attend online classes & viewing graphs & such from my e-books would be better in color) but is it worth the extra $100? my gut says go for it, i never get to treat myself & it is something i know i will use & love, but i just cant decide! lol!

What can I do next?

I have the b&w Nook and love it, however, I often think how much I would love the top screen to be color when shopping for new books. I could be wrong, but I think I read that the Nook color has touchscreen on the top part, too. That would be great! It took me a couple of weeks to stop touching the top screen (I'm a blackberry user and I'm used to the top screen being touch). Once I stopped jabbing my finger at the reading surface on the nook and started using the lower part...all was fine :) Can you go to a local B&N store and play with both of them? You might get a better feel if you actually get your hands on one.
Enjoy reading!

I'm getting one next month for my birthday and I decided on the Color. I have two young boys and I love the read to me feature.

I think it's harder to read anything black and white on the color. The color is also MUCH heavier. I have the black and white, and felt envious of the color until I actually saw and touched one, and wouldn't take one if it was given to me. But I'd actually go to Barnes and Noble and touch and see for yourself.

I have the nook 3g. If I was going to get the color nook, then I might as well have gotten the ipad. I like what I have...the purpose is to read books. There are limited magazines on it, but for me, I wanted it mostly for books.

Go for the colored one... it is no where near the price of an iPad! I would think if you are going to look at any pictures you want to be able to see them in color! You deserve the color!!!!

Enjoy!

I have a Kindle (black and white) and love it. I wouldn't use the color, but I do miss it when reading books to my daughter. iPad's are amazing, but I don't know how they compare pricewise to a Nook. And they have lots more features. I like the Kindle because it is not backlit like the iPad, and my laptop, which makes my eyes tired by the end of a day. I am an online student also.

Color, it's almost an iPad but half the price. BUT if you are even close to thinking about an iPad get that instead. You can get Nook app on iPad and read on it. I use iPad for reading and everything I use my laptop for.

BTW love BN and would never buy Kindle. You can read Nook books on a variety of readers and buy from other ebook vendors. Kindle is selling themselves extremely short by only selling on amazon and not allowing purchases from other ebook sellers. PLUS amazon tracks your every purchase and sells that info to marketers. BN does not.
