You might want to seek out a physical therapist who specializes in pelvic floor issues. They can give you exercises to do that will help.

Over the course of 3 weeks, I have had 2 episodes when I wet the bed at night while dreaming of going to the bathroom. I had my first baby 7 months ago and I know my pelvic floor is still weak; I find it hard to hold it if I really have to pee! Can this just be my weak pelvic floor muscles or do I need to see my doctor? Anyone else ever have this problem?

Hi,
I would first suggest getting some nite time pads for yourself to help keep the bed dry and then I would suggest seeing your DR. I didn't have those problems. I do have those kind of dreams but they usually wake me up and I go potty. Have you been doing the kegal exercises to help strengthen your pelvic muscles? I do still have leakage sometimes because my muscles are week but that does come along with having babies. I have two beautiful kiddies. One boy and one girl. I would definately talk to the DR. and see what he suggests or what he can do you for you.
Good Luck

I did not have this problem after delivery; however, I did experience episodes of this sort as a young girl and have had a couple of episodes as an adult. I don't believe it has anything to do with your delivery.
I had to make a deliberate effort in realizing that I was dreaming and awaken myself and get to the bathroom. I now make it without wettingthe bed. I may soil my underpants a bit though.
This has happened to me also..When this has happened to me it is when I have not had enough sleep..So, I try and make sure that I get more rest and always go to the bathroom right before I lay down. Good luck!
This happened to me before I had children, usually when I am utterly exhausted. Im so tired that I cant wake up to go pee, and actually have dreams that Im on the toilet when Im not, and I pee. I also have dreams about hearing my alarm clock going off, but its something else in my dream. Its probably not related to childbirth, unless it happens during the day too. Kegel exercises wouldnt be a bad idea regardless. My husband is happy I do them! :)
I know this isn't of much help, but since I had my second daughter, I can't hold my pee as long either. I have not had an accident, however. I do have to run to the bathroom frequently as I did when I was pregnant. Seems odd to me, and I tried to explain it to my doctor, and it was just blown off as me having to go from drinking fluids. My second daughter is 3 now, and it is still the same. I am just use to going pee a lot now I guess.

It could just be your weak muscles. Mine were weak for over a year. Try doing the kegel exercises for a few months and see if that helps. Also stop drinking after like 7:00pm so that your bladder isnt so full.
And last but not least, stop dreaming of peeing, lol. Sorry, had to say that. You can always speak w/ your doctor if you feel they will be helpful.
I have had the same problem. I don't think it has anything to do with a weak pelvic floor. I think sometimes we just sleep so soundly that our bladder signals do not fully awaken us. My husband has had this kind of wet dream too. I am trying to curb the problem by not drinking any fluids an hour before bedtime and being sure to empty my bladder just before I get in bed. If I need to urinate closer to morning I am not in my deep REM sleep so I wake up. I also try not to sleep flat on my back because that position makes my bladder feel full. Hope this helps. Probably many have this problem but are ashamed to admit it. AF
