My Husband and I are hosting the families first "Family Reunion" at our home. Looking for some ideas for activities/games that will keep everyone entertained and not looking for the door once they arrive.
Thanks in advance...:)

Family reunions are great. I have been attending ours most of my life and hosting ours the last 6 years. I have found that the best games are frequently the easiest so that everyone, young and old, can participate. One favorite is the "toilet paper wrap" game. Play in teams of two, chosing one player to be wrapped and the other to wrap. Provide them each with a roll of toilet paper and at the whistle, wrap away! First one to finish is the winner. Great way for grandma and the 6 year old to interact. A watermelon eating contest or dipping your face in a disposable pie plate filled with whipped cream (searching for a hidden gum ball) make great picture taking opportunities while everyone participates. I agree with the previous great ideas that family trivia and bean bags are fun. If I have learned anything over the years it has been not to be too ambitious with fancy games and try to keep everyone engaged during game times. If people are not participating in the game, they can be judges, coaches or we even have the "cheering" section. Good luck and I am sure you will have the best day ever. Be sure to take plenty of pictures. You will never have that wonderful day with your little ones and family again.
How about a huge water balloon fight?
Set up some plastic tubs around the perimeter of your yard, and fill each of them up with water ballons. Let everyone don their swimsuits or old clothes and let them have a blast!
The bean bag games are great. You can even go online and print out tournament "brackets" if you have more than one game going on. We went to a party where this happened and it was so much fun. Even the little ones were playing, they just kept the boxes closer to each other. Good luck at your party!
Hi!
I don't know what the age mix is for your picnic but the couples and older teenagers (or you couldlet the younger ones.. your choice)
at our picnic always form two lines and TOSS the water balloons.. back and forth and then the couple still standing with an intact balloon wins.. we have also done an egg toss as well.
This has always been fun! You can have fun inexpensive prizes too if you would like. We always set up a volleyball net.. and a little kiddy pool for the little ones. Maybe you could do a make your own sundae bar too where families can (or you can provide.. whatever your budget)
everyone brings toppings and the kids ALWAYS love to make their own sundaes. I have also seen articles on family picnics like in parents magazine and things like that.. you can go to the library and check out magazines for free.. and I bet you can also get ideas online if you google family reunions.. or picnics things like that.
good luck and have fun!
I've used this at parties, workshops and family reunions. Play "Name that TV Theme Show" or "Name that Tune." It works well with the adults mostly, but if you have games for the kids (and judging from the other responses, you've got some great ones) you might want to have one for the adults, too. I used my iPod to play the songs, or you can use a CD player. You can get the songs from anywhere (CD collection, downloading from iTunes, etc.) Break up into teams and play it like family feud, giving each family a chance to steal if one team can't guess the name of the song. Let each team keep their own score. It can be really raucous if it's done right. Good luck.

Have invites gone out? You can ask everyone to bring pictures and set up some poster boards with "then" and "now". We had posters with old pictures at our family reunion last summer and everyone loved it. They stood around telling old stories and laughing.
The only other "activity" we had set up was those bean bag toss games. If you don't have one I am pretty sure you can rent them these days.
Have fun!
I have never had a family reunion, but a friend of mine has a huge one every year. Apparently (for an indoor option) they make up trivia about the family and play a Family Feud type game with it. Sounds like it could take a while to make, but if you could enlist some help from the other people coming, it could b really fun. She includes history, funny stories, embarassing moments, etc. Have a great time!
you can play a game by making 2 teams south verse the north or have 2 different colors don't pair husband and wifes together and request each team to line up by shoe sizes or according to height, skin tone and which team does it the fastest win the gift, we played this game and everyone even the children participated in the game as a whole family instead of trying to find games that the children would like and the parents we played a bible game for all the christian and who ever answer the most question won this game, we played the scaveer hunt who ever had the most items won this game once again they were in teams let me know how this works out for your family reunion becasue mines was a blast good luck
