I have a 3 year old little girl and 15 mo old twin boys and they have been going to an in-home daycare for over a year now, since right after the boys were born. I was informed yesterday that she is not going to do daycare anymore and I'm crushed!! It's so hard going to work and worrying about my kids all day long. I so did not want to take them to an actual daycare center but it looks like I will be forced to unless I can find another in-home situation ASAP!!!! I would actually love to have a nanny but I have no clue how to go about finding one or if there are any serviced even available in Amarillo. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks to all who responded!! We thankfully found a good in home daycare from a lady who used to have one in her home when her children were small and has now gone back to it to watch her grandchild. We are very excited and happy to have found her. I had tried so many daycares, including Storyland which was mentioned, but no one had openings for all 3 of our children and we definately wanted to keep them together. Thanks again for the responses!!!

Hi! I totally understand how you feel! I suggest going to http://amarillo.craigslist.org/ You can look through the posts that are offering nannies and in home choldcare, or you can post your own add in the CHILDCARE or JOB postings and give all your details and expectations. I have seen several posts for both, and you can also request references to get exactly what you are looking for. Best part is, it is local and is totally free to post and browse adds. YOu just have to join the craigslist community, also free. I have to say, that I love craiglist because you can do some many searches on it. There is everything from group chat to for sale, all LOCAL! The one downfall is that there are scammers out there, so if it sounds to good to be true, you know it is- on the for sale stuff. Anyway, good luck, and I hope you get some use out of this! Best wishes!

I live in Amarillo and although I take my son to an in-home daycare too, I've been told that Storyland Too on Hillside and Star Blvd is great! I've got several friends who take their kids there and they just rave about the staff and the way that their child/ren is treated. If something ever happens and my sitter can't watch my son anymore, that's where my son will go. And something that makes me have a whole lot of comfort is that they've been around for years; at least 25!

You can try sittercity.com. I did not have much luck with them because the girl I chose and interviewed did not contact me back after I picked her. They do have nannys you just have to put what you are looking for. I will not use a daycare so I stay at home now.
