I am wondering if anyone knows where I can buy extra wide shoes for my 15 month old toddler. I bought him some shoes for the summer at Stride Rite that fit him great, however I was hoping not to have to bear the expense of buying all of his shoes there. So far I haven't had much luck finding shoes that his chubby little feet can fit into.

Payless has a great selection at great prices and the quality seems no different than Stride Rite. My mom used to always buy Stride Rite's for my girls, and I would pick ones up at Payless that in no way looked or felt any different! The only difference seems to be the $20-30 you save...
My son had wide feet when he was that age...I had surprisingly good luck finding wide widths at department stores. Nordstrom's has an excellent kids department, and while pricey, it was worth going just to have a knowledgeable saleswoman talk to me about his feet and what brands, etc. would work. I ended up buying some sandals there for $17. Then I shopped at JCPenney's - they had a good selection and good sales. Sandals will probably fit him best for awhile and luckily, this is Texas so sandals will work for a few more months.
My son's feet slimmed down at about 19 months and now he's in normal widths again, so there is hope....good luck!

I am not sure about all of the locations... but the Marshalls behind the Montgomery Plaza just North of Downtown Ft. Worth on Carroll Ave have a HUGE shoe selection including a bunch of Stride Right and extra wide New Balance sneakers. I was just looking at them yesterday! My son also had wide feet. I loved the quality of the Stride Rite shoes because they last a long time. I found Stride Rites at Nordstrom's Rack over in Hurst. The regular shoes are about $40.00 - $50.00 and Nordstrom's Rack has them for about $24.99. Some are the same styles as in the stores and I have found wide sizes. I'm not sure if there are other locations for the Nordstrom's Rack but it is right across from Northeast Mall.

We've done two things: bought Stride Rites and other "stretched Out/higher quality" shoes at resale shops and for a while the chubby top of his foot was the problem, so we bought the velcro strap and lace up shoes at Payless. Good luck.
The only place I've been able to find extra wides are at Stride Rite. Hey, if you find another place let me know cuz they aren't cheep. Sorry, I wish I knew more.

I've seen Stride Rite shoes at various Ross stores. While I'm not certain if they were wide, it doesn't hurt to swing by there to check the shoe rack every few weeks. The prices are very good. Good luck!
Both my boys have XW feet. I buy used XW shoes off ebay. That's the cheapest place I can find them. I usually only buy him 1 pair of shoes (tennis) and he wears them until he moves on the next size, that's if I have to buy them at Stride Rite.

All of my boys have had very wide feet, and it isn't something they've grown out of (my oldest is 6 yr.) I feel like good fitting shoes are really important, so I'm not willing to do the whole "size up" thing, or make them stuff into regular shoes anyway. I personally have not had much luck finding wide width shoes at Payless beyond and toddler size 6ish, and have never seen them at Marshall's despite other people telling me they have. I've checked the dept stores on occasion, but never managed to find a really good deal there either (could find shoes, but not for cheaper). So, we suck it up and buy Stride Rite. I have bought some off of eBay, which is nice, and any time I've seen a pair - even if it's a size we're not in yet - at a second hand store that are in good shape, I pick them up. SR also has sales, and some of their shoes are not as pricey as others. It does stink IMO, but I know I'm miserable if I don't have good fitting shoes, and I'm not putting my kids through that.
My sons feet were fat on top too. I bought shoes in wide width at Wal-Mart or Payless. His feet grew to fast to get any pricy ones. If that doesn't work buy a size up. Also, Newbalance comes several widths as well, and you can buy them at Kohl's for less than $20.00 usually. Soon his feet will start to even out. I would say by the time he is 2. They start to get leaner from all the activity and diet changes.
