Need to Know If an Agency Is Legit? Need Some Quick Advice! Please!

There is an agency called Cleveland Kid Productions, first off has anyone heard of them? Secondly, my daughter is 5, and we have been going back and forth, talking about signing her. The guy is a lawyer, a manager, and just everything wrapped in one. They want a payment of $500. I know you aren't supposed to pay up front, but you need a lawyer right? And he is one, so that is taken care of. If anyone would please let me know if this sounds right, and if they are a legit company, that would be great! Thanks

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all Very much for your input. Because of you all, I had started asking him A LOT of questions, and he got all flustered, and does not want my daughter and I to sign with him now! Thank you very much for all your answers, it was very helpful, and my daughter is unbelievably beautiful, and a real agency with a real scout will see her soon enough, and love her. Thank you all again!

I work in the industry and have never heard of them. The agent or manager gets paid when you get paid not before. You do not need a lawyer off the bat for anything and agent handles the contract - that is why they get the 10%. It does not sound legit and you need to talk to some of the his other clients and see what productions they have been in.

I personally would run!

If he's a lawyer, he's looking out for his own legal interests, not yours. Call the Better Business Bureau to see whether any complaints have been filed against him. I've heard of agencies like these that take your money and do little in return.

I would type the agency's name into the better business bureau and see what they have to say about it. I think the website is like bbb.com

First rule of thumb is you never put all your eggs in one basket. Sounds pretty fishy to me. You need separate lawyer, manager, etc. not all rolled into one.

If this guy is a lawyer, then he's representing Cleveland Kid Productions and you need someone to represent you. Doesn't sound right to me. Don't sign or pay anything until you've had the opportunity to check them out. If you need to know right away, I'm getting an impression that they've given you some type of deadline. Don't fall for it.

Sounds like you're being rushed to sign up which is a red flag to begin with. Are you sure he is a lawyer? You might want to check with the bar association to make sure. Also check the BBB and maybe google his name and business and see what comes up. Good luck!

I definitely wouldn't want it all wrapped into one.. I would be very weary.
