I am trying to pick paint colors and window treaments for some of the rooms in my house (family room, master bedroom/bath). I am terrible at this kind of stuff. Does anyone know of any web sites, etc. that help with this sort of thing? ANY advice would help.

I would start with the fabric for curtains or pillows for the family room by visiting Calico Corners or even Jo-Ann fabrics. The accessories can then tie in with the fabric. For the MBR, you can try Bed Bath Beyond or any of those places to start with your "theme" by picking out your comforter set. If you don't know a local seamstress or know how to sew, I would try store bought pieces for the bed that you love and then decorate around that. Magazines are another great resource. The library has lots of decorating books too. Decorating is a fun hobby...I've been having a ton of fun doing my house.

I do that through my business. I also have a designer I work with who is really talented. If you're interested, e-mail me. Also, Start with the fabric first, it's easier to match paint to fabric than vice versa. and try staying with these color combinations for a modern look.. red, gold green red, gold, blue
Blue, white, yellow.
I alwasy recommend to my clients to start buying magazines and tear out pages of stuff you like and put it in a folder. It will give you a good idea of your style.
