I am a mother of 6 month old twins. How do I get them to take 2 longer naps rather than 3 shorter naps? Theyn share a room and I worry about letting them fuss and waking up the other sibling???

What can I do next?

My twin boys took three "shorter" naps for quite some time-- they were over a year old before the switched to only two naps. Unless you have to leave the house for work or something equally necessary, I would strongly recommend you just continue working with their schedule. You will have a much happier family if the children are able to nap when they need to nap (not necessarily when you want them to nap!).

This will go by more quickly than you think. Try to hang in there.

I am not sure if I would be too worried about one waking the other. My daughters are 13 months apart and they shared a room for a while and they were used to the other one making alot of noise so she rarely ever woke when the other was fussing.. One other thing you should do or I personal believe is a good thing to do is to make a lot of noise when your kids are sleeping so they will sleep through interruptions. I NEVER told everyone to be quiet because the babies were sleeping.. I had a family member who did that( no offense of course) and their kids woke up and the drop of a pin. My kids slept through EVERYTHING. So Hopefully that will help. Not quite sure how to change the lengths of their naps though. Their nap schedule will change a few times on their own and with them already being 6 months it may just change soon by itself becuase as they get older they dont sleep as much. If i think of anything I will let you know! Good Luck :0)

split them in to two dif. rooms it will make it easyer and sometimes i can be very good for twins when they have some time away from each other.

C., all I can really say is that six month old babies are still young and often take more than two naps. Babies know best when they are tired. It's not necessarily beneficial to them, their health or growth to take 2 longer naps rather than 3 shorter - might be more convenient for mom but I'd continue to have them sleep when they need it. Good luck

hi C.. i am a mother of 17 month old twin boys...they took 3 nap up until they were 9/10 months old(8, noon and 4/5 pm). up until recently they took 45 mins in morning and 45 minutes in the afternoon...it was a challenge for Mom but since they started sleeping through the night at 3/4 months, i felt lucky. they now take a 2 hr nap in the afternoon. my boys also share a room...i have always had them close to one another. i would let them fuss and would be amazed how one would not wake the other...i think they grow accustomed to the sounds of each other. please let me know if you have any other questions!

I don't know about the latter part of the question, but my daughter did the same thing until she turned 7-8mo. she started to take just 2 naps, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. good luck!
