Juliana. Because I would rather think that if my name had to be shortened (and it will be) that Juli or Ana will be the options and not Maddie.

I love Juliana. Having kids in grade school I can tell you that there are many Maddie's, short for Madelyn or Madison. Juliana is beautiful.

Juliana. Yes, I think Madelyn is pretty popular these days, so go for the less common name.

I don't know how this can possibly be helping your decision.
People are pretty split with one or the other.

Both names are pretty. Go with what you feel is the right one.

Juliana. I think anything with ana in it is pretty. My daughter's name is Adriana.

My vote is Madelyn.

Juliana is pretty, but some people will pronounce the first "a" like apple, and some will pronounce it like the "a" in avocado. I always lean towards names that are easy to pronounce and leave no question.

Congrats on your baby girl!

I love the name Madelyn - our daughter is Madelyn and you can also do nicknames of Maddie or Lyn.

Good luck!

Both are very beautiful names.

My vote - Madelyn - here's why
you can read her the Madeline books and call her Maddy for short - way better than Julie. Sorry to all you Julies! Plus Juliana reminds me of Juliana Moore. I try not to pick names that remind me of celebs.

Hi, I would need to know what the middle name is and also the last name would help, or definitely the last initial.

for example, if your middle name would be Ann, and your last name starts with the G, I wouldn't have JAG as initials, but that is just me!

Remember, you can have nick-names, just in case you like one over the other:

Jules
Maddie

Good Luck! Both names are very pretty though!

Madelyn.

With Juliana, you never know if it's Ana (long A) or Anna (short nasaly A). I feel this way with the name Brianna too. There are two ways to pronounce it and you never know which is right. I want people to say my daughter's name correctly the first time.

Madelyn is ranked in the top 10 of baby names. Do you really want your child to be one of 10 Madelyn's in her grade?

Juliana -- pretty, traditional enough but not common. Lots of Madelines etc. around these days. Not a fan of the inevitable nickname "Maddy" either, that's just my taste. (no offense, moms of Maddys--my daughter's best friend is Maddy).

BTW, responding to someone's post, the actress's name is Julianne Moore, not Juliana.
