So here's the latest list. Please tell me honestly if you like or hate any and why.
Monica Jane
Lucia Jane
Madeline Jane
Juliana Rose
Natalie Jane
Isabel Rose or Jane
Eva or Ave Jane
My boy's names are Isaac and Benjamin. I love old testament names. My children are hispanic/caucasian. My husband loves Monica or Violet. Any advice is appreciated. We don't want a name that's too popular either. The middle names are after either my mom(Jane) or my grandma(Rose)who passed away just after Christmas last year.
Hi everyone,'
Thanks for all your great advice! We had our beautiful baby girl on March 11th and came up with a totally different name at the last minute. Elisa Jani'ce (pronounced El-ee-sa Ja-neece. We are very happy.
Thanks Again,
S.

I think the name Madeline Rose sounds beautiful :) I've had several friends who have had a name chosen, only to find that it doesn't quite 'fit' the baby once it arrives ~ Maybe just wait until you see her to know what suits her best. Best of luck and congratulations! :)

We had about 5 names picked out and I was rooting for one in particular, but once she was out she didn't look like a Molly to me. My hubby like Aubrey, so that is what it is....so my point is maybe wait till you see her and see who she looks like! all are cute names the only one that I haven't heard much lately is Lucia. Think too of nicknames... Madeline may often be called Maddy.
Good luck! it is hard to saddle a kid with a name for life!

For me, I try saying all my children's names together to see if they seem to go together. these are my children, Benjamin, Isaac and....Madeline? Isabel? I go for Isabel personally if the above are what it's narrowed down to. I mean for example if you have a unique names and then throw in a common name it's like..Huh? Example: Seneca, Kelton, and Charles....not what I expected.

Hi S.,
I think they're all beautiful names, honestly. Names are so difficult and personal that no matter what I say, I think you'll pick the one that feels strongest to you and your husband.
One thing I did look up that might help you to make a decision is the popularity ranking of the name, since you said you didn't want a name that was too popular. Here are they're popularity rankings in 2007 (in the top 1000) according to the social security administration:
My name is M., and I don't really like it. It's okay, but it's always bothered me that it doesn't have a good nickname. We hang out with lots of kids, and Ava and is fairly common right now. You can check the social security website for how common names are. I like Violet Rose or Madeline Rose. Check initials too to make sure it doesn't do anything weird.

Hi,
You have picked some beautiful names! I particularly love Lucia, Monica or Juliana. These seem to be not so popular right now. I love Madeline (when it is spelled with this classic spelling) but it is so popular right now. I know 3 right now in my sons school! I also think that Eva, Ave and Isabel are trendy right now.
Thank goodness you are not considering any of the names like Jaiden, Hayden or Aiden! Talk about trendy, everytime I turn around I hear another newborn baby being named some form of these names. I know more Kaidens, Haydens, Braydens or Aidens, the sad thing is that all of their parents think they are being so original.
Take care and good luck! The minute she is born you will know what to pick. I sure did with my sons.

I love all the names you picked out.
Do you have a common last name? If so, then you might want to choose a less common first name to avoid getting your daughter mixed up with with others. In our family, we share names with others in our community and have trouble sorting out library cards, medical charts, and phone calls for the other W's. We've even picked up the wrong photos from Costco!
I have often wished that I had a more unusual name so I think you are wise to look for one that not too popular for your daughter. Good luck!

My advice is to do a web search for the name (including your last name) to tell if this is a already a common name or not. There are on-line baby name sites that show the most common names for the current year.
Secondly, think about nicknames and if you like them or not. Lucia to Lucy, Isabella to Izzy or perhaps Bella (ala the current Twilight movie), Madeline to Maddy, Natalie to Nattie or Nat, etc.
Thirdly, think about the number of syllables in the name and how easy or hard it will be for a Kindergartener to write (and to later fit on a single line signature space). If your last name is very long, then Eva Jane would be nice. If your last name is one syllable, you might prefer a longer first name.
Lastly, when you see the baby, think about if the name fits. After you find the right name, everything else will seem wrong and you'll "know".

I see you've gotten tons of responses, but I just have to add my two cents. My name is M. and I've always liked it (contrary to another mom who posted here). I rarely meet another, I never had another in any class I was in, I rarely have to use my last name when identifying myself on the phone to friends and acquaintances, yet it is familiar enough that people don't have to ask how to spell it or pronounce it. Since it is a Hispanic name and your husband likes it, I think it's a winner! My middle name is Jeanne (pronounced Jean) after my aunt, so it has a similar sound to the middle name you've chosen of Jane. I'm actually of French heritage, but my parents decided against Monique in favor of the more familiar M.. I agree to stay away from Ava, Eva, Isabel and Madeline---much too common. My 2nd choice on your list is Lucia (but is it pronounced Lu-see-a, or Lu-chee-a? That might provide some confusion for people just looking at the name) God bless you in all things as you welcome a precious girl---I have 3 and they're a joy!

I love Rose as a middle name! Very pretty and a loving tribute to your grandma.
We have a Lucia Margaret (Margaret was my grandma) and always get compliments on how "pretty" the name is. I just wanted a "Lucy" and her due date was on Santa Lucia day--so it worked!
Congrats on your baby girl! I'm pregnant with my second daughter and hope to one day have a son (I love the name Isaac!).

Don't worry that you haven't decided on a name yet. We were sure when we were pregnant with our third, (2 boys), a girl, that we were naming her Grace, but between the time that I found out I was having a girl and gave birth we had changed our minds. We ended up naming our daughter Audrey, she is now 3 1/2 and we look at her and think you couldn't have been a Grace or Gracie, Audrey just fits her. We also had met or heard of too many Gracie's while I was pregnant, and you get an impression of the name and the person that fits a particular name.
We wanted something timeless, not old fashioned and not trendy, also a name that couldn't be shortened into a nick name. These are just some suggestions for you.
If you want my opinion, I love Isabel Rose or Jane. Good luck, you will know when she gets here what fits her perfect. :) Plus, your boy names are wonderful!

Keep your list and decide when she is born! I have heard that a baby will often determine the name for undecided parents. Try out each one and see what happens. Did it spark to you? Did she respond to it?
As far as middle name I would say go with your mom's - she is alive and will appreciate the honor so much.
Another thing is go look up their meanings - you like biblical names, but those names were given based on meanings. Maybe one of these gems has a meaning that will be near and dear to something in your life.
Best of luck!!! And congrats - woo hoo!

Hi S.,
another vote for Lucia Rose. Lucia is short, pretty, feminine, and should go great with a part-Hispanic heritage (I don't think of Lucia's as being the Nordic blonde type :-)). I'd chose Rose after your Grandmother, because you will be the last generation who remembers her. Your kids will get to know your Mom Jane, and may pass on her name to their own children.
But I also agree with many of the other posters - wait until you see the baby. We had the name Elliot picked out for our youngest son, but after we saw him, both my husband and I decided that was not the right name for him. His name now is Phillip. Go figure.
Best of luck,
S.

Hi S.,
I truly understand what you are going through. So, I've enclosed a few names that stood out to me, keeping in mind your blessing will be born late Feb/March time frame. I hope this help a little.
Violet Rose
Adalia (Noble one / Yahweh is just) Rose
Alita (High; excellent) Rose
Nevaeh (Heaven backwards) Rose
Some of it depends on your last name, but I like Lucia Jane or Ava Jane. Ava, Isabel, and Natalie are the more popular ones. I think Madeline is cute but sounds better with Rose than with Jane. So glad you're getting a girl after two boys, congrats! Be sure to let us all know what you end up naming her!

Absolutely love Juliana Rose. My grandaughter's middle name is Juliann after her other grandma, and her name Madison Juliann just fits her. The one name on your list I don't care for (and never have) is Isabel. I don't know why but it conjurs up a gypsy movie I watched years ago, and the gypsy's name was Isabel, and she was always swigging away on a bottle of whiskey. I find it really funny, how we associate names with memories. I also like Lucia and Natalie, but not real fond of the other's. Two other names I like (I've met the little girls, so that could be why) are Shaelyn (shay-lynn) or Kalimarae (Kali-ma-ray). No matter what you chose, her name will end up fitting her, so just make sure you and your husband like it, no matter what others think. Hope this helps.

We had a very difficult time choosing our daughters name as well. It sounds like you aren't sold on Monica and would prefer a biblical name. Have you considered Sarah or Elizabeth? Good luck with your choice. We didn't decide until two days before her birth. I kept thinking I would find the perfect name, instead I had to eliminate the names I knew didn't fit with our last name and didn't have a nickname associated with it. I also tested names out with my nieces and nephews. They tell you if the name can be made fun of in any way.

Congratulations......
I work in a maternity department so my imput is biased..
Ava, Madeline and Isabel (especially the "bella" part of Isabella)are frequent choices so you can join the crowd.
I personally think Lucia is a beautiful choice---this little girl will be the "light" of your life. She will have a choice of being Lucia or honestly Lucy has made a big come back--- appropriate for all ages and stages.
I can also tell you that I have 3 girls---my husband is Italian so we had the same decisions to make. I have a daughter with Juliana for her middle name, and a daughter with the first name Natalia.. so of course I love those names too.
Trust yourself, you will make the right choice-----maybe just wait and meet this little one and she will be the one to help you make a decision.
Take care,
D.

First of all, congrats!!! It is so amazing this time of your life. Please try not to stress too much with the name. I'm sure that once you see that wonderful child, you will know what to name her or him.
I wanted to let you know that I like the name Lucia. It is uncommon and interesting. I would call her Lucia Rose instead of Lucia Jane though. That is my opinion, so please make sure if you use it that she looks like a Lucia Rose.
On the other hand, I like all of the names you picked out. When we were pregnant with my first, I knew his name would be Austin Nathaniel. With my second, it wasn't until I saw her that it was for sure she would be a Taylor Grace.
Go with what your heart tells you when you see this child for the first time, and pray until the child is born. You'll see the answer when you see your child.
Best wishes and know that I am excited to hear of the new baby coming into this world.

Hi S....pick two you both really really like...and when the baby is born..she will look like one or the other to you I think. Our son was named that way sort of. We were waffling between two or three names, and when he was born..he looked like he fit one of the names, and so it was. We just recognized the name with his little face..it was so cool :)
Anyway..good luck! With our daughter we had basically one named picked and though uncertain, she looked the part and it fit perfectly. So either way works..but if you decide before hand..then go ahead and start calling her by that name before hand..if it sounds good talking about her with "Monica Jane" Say it differently..sternly..softly...will she have an nickname? With our son, he has that choice and some call him nicknames..he corrects some and not others so not sure. He definitely prefers his full name though. With my youngest, she has a name that lends itself to a few little nicknames but mostly not. My mom always went with the short first name, longer middle name or l;onger first, shorter middle. ..so if you go with Ave, Jane or Rose works because it is longer than Ave. And If it starts with a vowel, middle should start with a consonant and vice versa..(things her mom passed on to her I guess).

If you don't want popular, then don't use isabel, madeline or eva/ava. There are tons of little girls with those names. However, my first vote was for Madeline Jane, but after I think about it, I like Juliana Rose better. I also like the name Violet. But don't do Violet Rose because that is just too much. LOL. Jane was my grandmothers name and we used that as our daughter's middle name.
It is such a tough decision. I couldn't name my daughter until after she was born. I have a few names picked out and once I met her, I knew who she was. Maybe pick two and then decide once you meet her.

Juilana is a winner to me, I think it's beautiful. If you don't find it personally objectionable, how about Monica Jane? That way, your husband gets a name he likes, and you get the middle name for your mom. (I noticed that Violet, his other preferred name, wasn't on your list, so avoid that one by offering the one you both like.)
My cousin and his wife had trouble agreeing on a name for their first son. Here's how they figured it out:
Each of them separately made a list of 10 names they liked. Then they compared lists. The only name on both lists was Colton, so that became their son's name.
Good luck!

Hi S.;
Take into consideration that people will use a shorter form of some of the names; i.e. Juliana will be Julie, Isabel will be Bell or Bella, Madeline may become Maddie. Decide whether you like the shortened name as that will be the one you hear the most.
As for not wanting one that's too popular, I have seen many Natalies and Isabel/Isabellas lately.
Personally; I love Lucia, there's something that just really stands out about it, well, to me anyway.
Type in the name and it will graph its popularity over the last century. And think the site will do some other things to now.
I like Madeline Jane, Juliana Rose or Natalie Jane.

Hi S.,
Picking a name is indeed very personal. All names are lovely, though I do have to share that my daughter's name is Madeline Jayne, so I'm partial to that. = ) I chose Madeline because of the elegance in the name and because it wasn't too trendy in 2006. I also tried to think of what would sound nice when she became an adult. All of your choices sound nice. Maybe narrow it down and wait til you meet her to see what best suits her. Good luck!

Hey, all cool names...my girls are named Evah Pearl and Asher Jane (partially named for my grandma & mom-in-law respectively)!
We like Biblical names, too. We've named all our kids based on the names' meanings. We prayed that God would show us a little of what each one would be like before they were born, and named them accordingly.
Its such an encouragement to have their names be a sweet reminder into who they are/will become.

Just a few thoughts of how we narrowed down names for our kids....
**Check what the initials would be with your last name. For example if your last name begins with a B you might not want Monica Jane because the initials would be MJB (like the coffee).
**Play around with the first name to see if it or the shortened version would be easy to make fun of on the playground. My name is a good example, I'm P. and I was always called Piggy P. even though I was a skinny kid. Hate my name to this day because of it.
**Make sure the shortened version is one you can live with because even if you don't use it someone else will.
**Say your boys names fast then add one of the girl names. If it's easy to say (such as when you're calling them) all the better. I didn't do that and trip up all the time. My kids are Nathan & Nicholas but we call them Nate & Nick.
**Think back on growing up and make sure none of the names remind you of someone you didn't like.
Lots to think about but so worth it in the decision making. Who knows, when she's born she might end up Betty Lou because that's what she looks like. LOL
Good luck and blessings to your family.

Your names are all lovely! Any one that you choose will be very nice. I noticed that you liked the older more biblical names, but names that aren't that popular. We are also part hispanic as well. My daughters name is Hope. My husband came up with it. It is older, biblical, unusual because you just don't here it much at all, not mainstream. And we often call her Esperanza, Hope in spanish. She is 11 1/2 and we have only run into one other child, when she was two when we were in Canada, that was named Hope. It would go with the middle name of Rose that you have chosen quite nicely.

Other then that I think they are all very nice. Madline is pretty popular. You don't hear Monica or Natalie very often anymore. With my first we had two picked out and then when she was born we looked at eachother and said what name we thought she looked like. Have you thought of a variation of Jane or Rose? I have a son named Harrison (after his grandpa Harry) and Dean, after Debra and Dan, my parents (beginning of her name, the end of his). You could do Rosevelie, Rosalind (which is Spanish for "beautiful rose", Janine, Janis, or Janet. You could also combine the names - Rane (Rain?), Jase (Jace?) Rosane (Rosanne?). I know how hard it is to come up with the right combination, but when you have it... you'll know. Good luck.

I like:
Juliana Rose
Natalie Jane
and using names u do have on the list already ,I think Ava Rose is also beautiful.
Both ur boy choices are great, but I lean more towards Benjamin. For me I just don't seem to come across many.

Isabela Rose is a beautiful name. I really like the name Isabela. My husband is also hispanic!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the boy names you picked out. both of those were on my list of names I like.
Personally, I do not like the name Madeline. Monica Lewinski? That's what I think of for Monica.
The other ones are nice, but I really like Isabela.
Good Luck to you! L.

Ha! I know you have a million replies, but I just wanted to say that I think all your choices are beautiful, but Madeline, Eva and Isabel are pretty popular. Lucy is popular to, but not so much Lucia. Good luck!

I like the old testament names too, like Hannah, Adah,& Mehetabel. I think Hannah Rose or Hannah Jane would be just beautiful.
Or Adah Rose/Adah Jane.
Or Mehetabel Rose/Mehetabel Jane.
Good Luck!

Good luck!

I am new to this site, but since you asked...I like Natalie either Jane or Rose for a middle. I am a teacher and have my first student with that name this year (in my 10 years teaching)...It's a good name for a little girl and grown woman, but not as common as Isabel, Madeline or Ava/Eva.

I like Isabella but as you said you don't like super popular names. If your husband has a strong preference, he should have some say.. Monica is nice and no one will think of Monica Lewinsky when your daughter is older... my two cents.

I like Monica Rose. I think that has a nice ring to it. I had a hard time picking names for my girls too. My oldest is Kaitlen Mya and my youngest is Alixe Andrea. I'm pregnant with my third and if it is a girl she will be Olivia May. :) Good luck with your little one's name.

You can always do the same name as my daughter, which is Jane Rose. There aren't many young Janes.

I love Lucia Rose. (I know you have Lucia Jane, but don't care for the combination as much). I also like Isabelle Rose. Both names I think go well with your son's very nice names.
And while I'm at it, I definitely don't care for Natalie or Monica.
Good luck! Let us know what you decide!

Hi S.,
You might find this website helpful if you are wondering where your favorite names are on the popularity scale over time. It is a fab interactive graph, informative and rather fun too I think. I know you asked my opinion, but I think you've gotten plenty of that from others and I'm certain your family too.
I think Isabel Rose is beautiful! Good luck and congrats on the pregnancy!

Well, we have an Ava, and it seems to be quite popular. I like Madeline and Natalie. And remember, probably the only time you'll use the middle name is when your precious child is in trouble!! :) Good luck!
