My son who will be 2 years old in November. WONT SLEEP THRU THE NIGHT ANYMORE... I don't know what to do. I am so ready to potty train and all the good stuff that comes with growing up but I have got to get him to go back to sleeping in his own bed.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well moms of the world we are down to the final steps on the new house. And Johnathan has started sleeping much better. Except he is getting a little head cold. But other than that we have not been at the new house late every evening because we are about 2-3 weeks from moving in. We is doing well and it is so nice to know that you have support from moms just like you. Thanks again and keep going strong... Oh and get some sleep...

I had the same problem with my now 5 year old. I would like to suggest that whatever you do, don't let him sleep in your bed it is very hard to get them out once it starts. I used to take my daughter back to her room and lay there until she feel asleep. It is a lot of interrupted sleep for you and you will be tired many days, but eventually he will realize that your bed is not the option.

Hang in there. Sounds like you have a LOT going on right now. His schedule is probably a lot different than before. Make sure he goes to bed early enough esp. if he is getting up & out of the house earlier. The later they stay up, the longer and fussier they are about going to sleep. Good luck!

Sounds like starting daycare may be the culprit. You're daycare is most likely napping him differently than you did when you were home with him. Ask them to not let him nap late in the day or nap as long & see if that works as he will be more tired when night time comes.

Good luck!!!

Does he fall asleep and then wake up crying and won't go back? My 2 year old went through this for about a year! We finally found out that we needed to have tubes put in due to severe ear infections. He would fall asleep and then wake in pain due to the fluid in his ears. We had to see a specialist (recommended from our pediatritian) and then went to St. Christopher's for the surgery. I was nervous but tubes are a common procedure and have worked WONDERFULLY! My family is sleeping again and my son is doing very well and is happy. Don't know if this is what your son is going through but it was our answer. Good luck!

With you starting work and your son starting daycare is a big change for an almost 2 yr old. That could have effected his usual routine and thrown off his sleeping. Give him some time to adjust and keep at it. If you bend the rules and let him sleep in your bed it'll be harder to get him back in his bed.

C.,
Sorry to hear your having a hard time with him sleeping but, remember a child goes through many different phases as they grow. My second son will be 2 in October and will sleep wonderful for weeks then, out of the blue, will wake up over and over again for 2 or 3 nights in a row. I'll think what the heck is going on? Then he settles back into sleeping all night again. It could be your new schedule for him, or perhaps, he's waking up and is a little scared, or maybe he's going through a growth spurt. Many things can be happening, just nurture him through it, he should be back to sleeping all night again soon. Hang in there!
As for potty training, make sure you wait till he shows signs he fully understands what that means. If you start too early, it can make the process very difficult. My first son wasn't ready till he was 2 and about 8 months.
Good luck with everything!!
