Oh man! Hes making me tired. I put my daughter to bed at 8pm because she wakes up a little after 6am for school. I have been letting my almost 3 year old stay up a little later if hes being good because he naps during the day, plus Im hoping he sleeps later so he wont be in our hair getting ready for school. But it backfires, he used to sleep until 8am every morning, but I guess he hears us moving around and wakes up. He is soooo crabby and tired!! I swear all morning all I hear is his high pitched squeal. I want to be able to hang out with him at night after my daughter goes to bed, but I probably should just put them to bed at the same time shouldnt I? Hes CRABBY! And naptime does not come soon enough!!!

What can I do next?

At three, it would be better for him to go to be at 7:30, imho. Maybe it would work better to put him to bed earlier and "hang out with" your DAUGHTER after HE goes to bed ?

He's telling you that he needs more sleep! Can you hang out with hiim while she's at school? I know you have the baby, but maybe during one of the baby's naps you can do something just with/for him!

We had one of "those nights" last night and finally put our little man to bed early b/c he clearly needed the sleep. This morning he was back to himself, but man. Last night, we couldn't do anything "right" and the whining...

I have noticed with my boys (9 and 6) that it doesn't matter what time I put them to bed they ALWAYS wake up at 7am. We could have a really late night and go to be at 11pm and they are still up early. Then, they are the crabbiest, weepiest, whiniest kids EVER. Put your son to bed a bit earlier and then if he is waking when you guys are moving around he wont be so crabby. Besided, you spent ALL day with him, right? Bet your daughter would like some one on one time with you without her cranky brother around. :)

I agree, my boys 9 and 11 still go to bed at 8:30 during the school year. They need that sleep desperately. I would put him to bed no later than 8 and just don't wake him in the a.m. You and your daughter can get ready in the a.m. before he wakes. Good luck!

He needs to go to bed earlier, maybe at 7:30 before your daughter. He won't sleep later in the AM if others are up, so do an earlier bedtime. He's crabby because he is overtired.

The picture you have in your mind of hanging out with him after your daughter is in bed and him sleeping later in the morning is not the reality here - it does not work. Adjust yourself to what they need and enjoy both children when they are up - which is easier to do when they are rested.
