Vinegar on the tongue afterward or a spray of cold water in the face during the bite might help.

Children bite as a way of communicating, and really it is quite effective...lol. I have 4 kids and they all went thru a short phase of biting. I have read many books on this. The common theme with most of them is to encourage them to use thier words to get the point accross and to redirect them to something other than what triggered the biting episode. With my own kids these were never really that effective. I have tapped them lightly on the mouth when they bit or even to the extreme of biting them back. Once they realize it hurts, they usually stop. My now 6 year old had the biggest problem with it at the age of 2. There was a time when he was fighting me and wanted to walk across a busy street instead of being carried. I gave in and let him hold my hand while we crossed. In the middle of the street he decided to bite my hand, the one he was holding. I picked him up, his teeth still embedded in my hand and when we got to the other side, I bit his hand until he took his teeth out of mine. Oh he cried, but it was the last time it ever happened!!! Good Luck and there are lots of bitting quesstions here in the archives and there are lots of good ideas!
My girlfriend and I were talking about her son mis-behaving and nothing was working so she started putting a dab of liquid soap in his mouth when he would act up and it worked.
