So hard to watch a little one suffer. Sorry he's going through this - and you too!

I agree with B - push fluids, ice chips if he can handle them, and popsicles. He needs liquids more than food. Call the pediatrician on call if you're really concerned by odors, although changed stomach issues and the meds/antacid mix can change the odor on his breath.

You need to get him seen NOW. Just because Coxsackie is a virus doesn't mean that she can't get a SECONDARY infection. And that's what this sounds like. Don't wait.

I'm so sorry he's got such a bad case of it.
Our son had a mild case - he never even got a fever - just a few blisters on his hands and feet.
As long as he can drink a little water or pedialyte (try the popcicles too) and can keep his fluids up, he'll be fine.
If he gets dehydrated, he'll end up in the hospital so an IV can get him re-hydrated again.

It's the 5th day? I'd take him to Urgent Care or the ER and have them check him again. If he smells like infection then he needs an antibiotic.

No way I'd let this go for another 2-3 days until you can get him in the doc's office on Tuesday, if they have an opening, or Wednesday, maybe even another day or so.

Go ahead and take him today or tonight.

Whatever they're doing isn't working.
