I hope you know that you should call an advice nurse or your doctor. Dealing with premie health issues requires a doctor not a answer board. There are too many variables. Good-luck.

I recommend that you ask his pediatrician about this. Sweating can be very normal and not a cause for weight loss in full term babies. Please do not try to prevent the sweating unless the pediatrician tells you to do so.

I've never had a premature baby. Is he eating okay? Are you waking him to eat if he goes more than a couple hours? How are you dressing him? What's the temp in your place?

Try and keep the baby dressed the way you would be comfortable and don't swaddle if you don't have air conditioning. Talk to the doctor and take the babies temp because some babies don't hold temps well. My doctor needed me to keep track and report anything more than a 1 degree difference in either direction of 98.6 for my 3rd daughter. She was born unable to regulate.

I don't know about the health of a preemie, but it's completely normal for all humans - baby and adult - to sweat while they sleep. If you're truly concerned, it's always best to consult with your doctor or ped nurse.
