Ask your pharmacist - there's a big difference between the enteric coatings (what protects the active ingredient from stomach acid) between tablets, caplets, gelcaps, etc.

I don't know the answer, but my guess, after a decade in the pharmaceutical industry, is no. Usually, medications that are able to be split, are scored with a line down the middle to make breaking easier.

I do it all the time with my generic ibuprofen, but it does not have a time-release component in it. If you have a super-sensitive stomach, the coating on ibuprofen sometimes if a buffer to help with that and cutting them destroys the buffer.

You cannot split medication that has any kind of coating on it. That coating breaks away in your system so the medicine is released at the right time/place in your body. Same reason you can't break capsules open. If the tablet is white then there should be no problem cutting in half. (I learned this from a paramedic while I was in EMT training.)

I'm not sure, sometimes splitting medications can alter how they are absorbed. I would call your pharmacist and ask their opinion.
