Morning Sickness - or Just Sick?

Hi, Ladies. My husband and I have been trying for our second child for about a year now. I have been feeling sick for about a week now, since about the DAY AFTER we tried conceiving. It's kind of a gassy, sour stomach, crampy feeling and it goes in and out all day long. It's particularly bad right after I eat. I thought morning sickness didn't start until at least two to three weeks after conception. I didn't really even suffer from morning sickness with my first child, except when I let myself get too hungry, and that didn't start until at least six or seven weeks post-conception. Do you think it's possible that it is morning sickness, or do you think I just have a bug or something? This month also has been quite unusual in terms of charting - my temps are very sporatic and generally really high -- more in the range of what my temps are during my period -- and I have almost no C.M. (sorry) this month. (My temp was low and I did have a S. amount of "ideal" CM the day that we tried conceiving, however.) Also, I've been getting hungry a lot more than usual the past few days. In all other respects, I have been feeling healthy and have no other cold-like symptoms.

What can I do next?

Hi D.,

There have been some bugs going around, but I wouldn't rule out pregnancy. I've now known 3 ladies that have taken pregnancy test to have them come back negative when indeed they were really pregnant. One of these ladies even went into the Dr for them to say maybe it was mono.
It wasn't till 7 weeks in or more that they finally concluded that she was pregnant. I say go ahead and take care of yourself as if you were and be prepared if you arn't. Good Luck!

Sincerely,
K.

Early in my pregnancy with my DS1, I had symptoms kind of like what you described. I had no idea I was pregnant at the time... I was actually worried that I was getting GERD or something.

So it definitely *could* be a sign, but you won't know 'til you can test. Hang in there & best of luck!

I had "morning sickness" with both of my pregnancies a couple weeks before I had even missed a period. It wasn't consistant and I didn't know what it was at the time. But looking back I know now that's what it was. I thought at the time it was a bug. Also with my second pregnancy, my husband knew it before me because of the way I was eating. I went a week straight of HAVING to have chips and hot salsa every day. LOL. I just didn't read into it at the time, but he sure did. So it is very possible. But also if you are trying to have a baby than you can start having those symptoms too. We tried for a year for our 2nd and at first I would "feel" like I was pregnant every month until I just stopped paying attention because it was so emotional to not be. (which is why I didn't notice when I finally was) I would wait until you miss your period and then take a test. But take care of yourself in the meantime and also prepare yourself for if you're not. It can be a roller coaster! Good luck!

I'd take a test and wait and see! My husband and I are trying and there has been a month or two, where I think I wanted it so bad that I saw symptoms all the time.... I pray that you are, and peace if you're not, that it will happen!
