Miscarriage Side Effect or Pregnant??

I am looking for some input on what I am going through. I had a miscarriage in October at 10 weeks. The doctor later found that I had developed an ovarian cyst on my left ovary after the miscarriage. He said the cyst would dissolve in time or burst.
My menstrual cycle was light in November, very heavy and very painful in December, and now in January I have had slight cramping and one day of spotting. My OB has told me that this can be normal due to my miscarriage.
My husband and I have been careful because we were told to wait for 3-4 months before trying again. We did kind of mess up though on day 25 of my cycle because we forgot to use protection. I am now on day 33 of my cycle with no period and not sure what is happening.
I have not had any pregnancy symptoms and the test I took yesterday was negative. My cycle before the miscarriage and in January was just like clock work on day 28.
I am wondering if the doctor is right and this is just my body trying to re-adjust or am I possibly pregnant but in the really early stages.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

My cycle started on Saturday. It was very late, but the doctor told me to be patient. Thank you all for your advice and words of encouragement. This is my first miscarriage and it is a little confusing what is happening. We want to start trying again this month so I will have to be patient.

It usually takes me about 6 months after a miscarriage to get some sort of normalcy again. My periods are all over the place if at all some times. That has been my experience all 4 times. So I would say your doctor could be very right. BUT keep a vigilant eye over yourself just incase you did get pregnant.

When I had ovarian cysts my cycle's were VERY irregular, absolutely nothing was predictable. When I finally got pregnant it was when I ovulated at about day 22. So I believe that your symptoms could be b/c of the cysts, but there are other options besides waiting for the cyst to dissolve or burst. Mine got to be around 10 cm in diameter and they did a set of progesterone injections that caused it to dissolve. I've heard that if they burst it can be very painful. You should ask your doctor about other options.

I had a miscarriage and my cycle was all screwed up after too. My cycle was like yours too, clock work. My doctor told me the same thing, that it was normal and that we needed to wait to get pregnant again. Well I got pregnant about 1 month after my miscarriage and the baby was fine. She is now 2 1/2 years old and very smart. So be patient with your cycle and if you do get pregnant before the 3-4 months do worry.

I had a miscarriage in November at 13 weeks. I think what you're going through is very normal. Although I had a d&c so my uterus was scraped clean, I have yet to have a "normal" period. Around Christmas I had extreme cramping but a very light period. Right now the cramping is starting again, but still no period.
Your doctor probably is right on that your body is just readjusting...

Hi my name is J.. I suffered a miscarriage Sept of 03. I had a baby in April of 03 and got pregnant right away again. Unfortunately, I miscarried in Sept of that year. My periods were always regular up till that point. I have been experiencing irregular periods since then. If you and your husband are trying to conceive again, this is what my docotr had me do. 4 months after my miscarriage, my cycles were still irregular and we were trying to conceive again. She had me take estrogen and pogesterin for 2 months and the third month I started clomid for 2 months and we got pregnant again and had a healthy baby Feb 13 of 05. My age did play a factor in us trying to get pregnant again, I was 33 and my husband was 36.

Hope this helpsJoanna

Its unlikely that you would be having symptoms of pregnancy this early, and it's unlikely that you got pregnant on day 25, regardless of your 'normal'...but of course, anything is possible. I had a m/c a while ago and it was found to be due to a fibroid tumor, which I later had to have surgically removed. Before I had it removed, however, I had horrible, unpredictable periods even while on BC. I would wait it out a bit longer and see what develops.

You would have a better idea of what is going on with your cycle if you were to chart using Naprotechnology or some other form of Natural Family Planning. I had one child die at 14 week and one at 31 weeks. My cycle were not normal after either. Through Naprotechnology we were able to figure out what was up. Some symptoms were natural and some were not. I had an infection that caused me to have some abnormal bleeding. That was first detected with Napro. and later during surgery it was found.

Just want to say relax. Your body does take a while to get back to normal, after mylast miscarriage it took 5 months before my cycle was "normal" again. As some one else said, give it another week and test again. if still negative, talk to your doctor.
