Hi Moms, So kind of embarrassing, but out of no where, my boobs have milk coming out of them. This obviously happened while I was pregnant and I nursed my son for a year. But he is 3 now. I am not sure why and was hoping that maybe this has happened to others. I recently stopped taking birth control, since we are going to try for baby #2 soon, but I am not pregnant, so I don't know where this is coming from. Its not really that they are leaking, but if squeezed (as my husband found out!) then it comes out. Just curious if any one knows why- or has had this happen to them. Thanks!

Having a low functioning thyroid (hypothyroid) or taking antidepressants can also cause you to lactate

Spontaneous lactation could be happening for a number of reasons.
Prolactin levels are responsible for milk production. I suggest you see a doctor to have them checked. It could be a pituitary tumor or cyst.

Are you by chance on the medication Reglan? for acid reflux? This is a common side effect of the medication. If not, it could be your body preparing for the pregnancy. You are trying to get pregnant and its possible that you have fooled your body into thinking you are---I would give it a few weeks if it doesn't subside and of course don't stimulate them, then I would contact your ob. Your hormone levels could be off. Good luck!

This is 100% normal! It is possible for women to lactate years after they have stopped breastfeeding and it is perfectly natural and not really something to be worried about. I'm thinking you're noticing a bit of an increase due to the hormone change from no longer taking birth control but were probably producing very tiny amounts all along but just never enough to really notice. Good luck TTC #2!!

I have leaked ever since I had my son in april 2007. I had to go for a mri and have my prolactin levels checked. everything checked out fine. I found I leak more when I think about babies or am around babies. My ob said some women are just more sensitive to things like that then others.

I nursed my son until he was 7 months, and 2 or 3 years later I could still squeeze a little milk out. I don't think it is abnormal at all, especially since you recently stopped BC which causes a change in hormones. Talk to your doctor to be sure something else isn't going on. When I told my doc, she said to be sure I didn't squeeze anymore (tell hubby!! lol) and it should dry up! Good luck!

I had this happen once and I had had a miscarriage and not known it. I would call your OB/GYN and just see about going in for a check up.
