Hi A.,
My husband has the same problem. Thor-Lo socks will last forever and they're made in the USA. You can get them from camping stores like Sally said or go to www.thorlo.com and order online.

Can anybody recommend a sock for my husband that will not slide down and that holds up well? He likes a mid calf sock. All of the socks he has tried slide down in his boots and will not hold up very well. They always get holes in the heels and toes very quickly.
Thanks!!!

My husband has bought the Walmart mid-calf brand. He said that he is very pleased with them.

My husband likes the gold toes brand says then don't slide down in his work boots. He also likes a brand from kohl's that wisk sweat away I think they are also gold toe brand from there.
I'm not sure what brand I've got for my husband last time I got socks for his boots, but I think they are the heavy duty type with reinforced heel and toe. He doesn't complain about them sliding down. I think it's just a guy thing to put holes in their socks because I feel like once a year I'm tossing socks from my husbands drawer and my son's!!
Go with a more expensive sock-in the long run they last much longer. I have been buying my hubby's at Khol's they are like $16.00 for a 2 pack or maybe even a 3 pk -sorry I can't remember but they have reinforced toes and heels and are very cushy :-) Sometimes with the sales and Kohl's cash back I can pick them up for a great deal.
Also I used to work for a mail-order company called Brigade Quartermasters they have a website or call the 800 number to order or they have a retail store located in Kennesaw, Ga. (Sorry didn't look to see where you were from) They have many many many good socks-a lot of the military guys order their socks from there so you gotta know they are good if they are ordering their socks from there. It's a bit more expensive but in the long run they would pay for themeselves. Thorlo is a good product I think someone else mentioned them. There are several sources to go to locally and not so local....Cabelas ia another (just google them), any kind of military or camping store would have the good ones.
Have you tried a microfiber sock? They are usually pretty good about staying in place. I also know that some guys I knew in the army would wear pantyhose under their socks to keep them from falling down or rubbing their feet- not sure if your hubby is open to that idea but it could help:)
My husband works and wears boots - he uses Hanes calf socks and they don't slide down until the elastic is worn out. He will get a hole in the toe sometimes, but he usually just needs to trim his toenails. :)
Thor-Lo brand. Sporting goods stores, camping gear stores have it. :)
