Centerville is dead-center, hence the name of the town.

You might try Corsicana. It is a little closer to Dallas, but it is probably the largest place with more to do and places to stay.

My folks live in Houston and we meet at Sams Restaurant just off of I45. It is pretty good country cooking and huge. You can't miss it. It is just north of Huntsville. Its exact location is 474 S Interstate 45 Fairfield, TX 75840. It isn't exactly in the middle, but it is the best place we have found to make a drop off of the children and visit.

There is nothing worth seeing in the middle of Houston and Dallas. It's a horrible drive. Huntsville is too close to Houston for you to drive and Centerville (the exact middle) is nothing to look at and you miss it if you blink.

If he's willing to drive to Ennis, stop at Bubba's BBQ. It's awsome. But, much closer to here than Houston. A little closer to Houston is Sam's Restaurant. I think it's in Fairfield and is a nice place to eat. They have a buffet which is usually easier for kids. They also have a little store.

Other than that, there's really nothing. Everything is usually closer to either city and one or the other will end up driving much further.

Good luck,
K.
