Maternal Fetal Specialist for Twin Pregnancy

I was high risk with my 1st baby (under a fertility doctor's care until I reached 10 weeks). I used a regular OB/GYN once I graduated from the fertility specialist. My OB/GYN referred me to the Perinatology group at Edward's for any specialty monitoring that I needed. But I still saw my OB for the regular monthly visits. I love the OBs in my group. Hi. I have twins and was concerned too. This was 4&5 for me, yet I was pretty anxious. I used a regular OBGYN office with plenty of experience delivering twins--Banuellos and Curcio on Bay Scott Circle in Naperville. I did see a all the perinologists (sp?) you mentioned during separate ultrasounds and they all had great info and were reassuring. It all worked out the way I wanted and I delivered naturally at 36 weeks and 4 days. My twins are healthy and almost 14 months old now. Trust your instincts...best of luck

Congratulations! Having twins is one of the most amazing experiences! Mine will be 3 in April. Thankfully, my pregnancy was not filled with difficulties or anything other than modified bedrest (meaning I could no longer work the last month or so, but I also was not confined to a bed).

You will probably be monitored by your fertility specialist for a couple more weeks and then will need to see your Ob/Gyn. Once you are a little further along, you will be referred to Drs. Taylor, Lee and Morgan. The perinatology team at Edward is amazing. Dr. Taylor was the only Dr. I saw in the practice, mainly because he was the one there everytime I was there. Because you are having twins, all of your routine ultrasounds (starting at 20 weeks, if not sooner) will be performed by Taylor, Lee and Morgan's office. I had ultrasounds at 20 weeks, 28 weeks and 36 weeks with their office. Regardless of which Ob/Gyn you choose, you will be referred to the specialists for further observation. I also went to the perinatology office weekly starting at about 32 weeks for non-stress testing, which is where both babies' heartbeats and movements are monitored for about an hour each week, along with checking for contractions. If you are on bedrest, you may need to see them more frequently for additional monitoring. Everyone in the office is amazingly friendly and helpful. Your regular Ob/Gyn will be the one to deliver your babies. By the way, Edward Hospital is an awesome hospital to deliver at!

Once you are a little further along (like about 15 weeks or later), I recommend you sign up for the Marvelous Multiples Classes offered at Edward. This class is the best! It's a prenatal class specifically for couples expecting more than one baby. Also, you should definitely think about joining a multiples/twins club! The best time to join one is while you are pregnant because of the great resources and mentorship you can get from the club's members. I didn't join until my twins were about 1 1/2 years old - my only regret is that I didn't join sooner.

I personally have never seen these doctors but know that Dr. Moran is great. I know her husband and have many interactions with Dr. Moran. She is very intelligent and is kind. I would highly recommend her.

I saw all three, Moran, Taylor & Lee because of what would be an unknowingly high risk pregnancy. I had the most interaction with Moran and Taylor. They are both great, compassionate & listen & answer all of your question. Moran performed an emergency cerclage and she was great. I too was on bed rest and for the last 2 weeks, it was in the hospital. It was really hard towards the end, but, Taylor came in one day and talked to me for 1 1/2 hours. He has great bedside manor and talks to you like he has known you forever.
I cannot say enough about this group because they "saved" my precious little one. Born at 31 weeks, 3lbs and now a whopping 9 months and 20 1/2 lbs!

I have 11 months old twins. During my preganacy I saw my OB for regular visits and I saw the specialist 3 times during my pregnancy just to make sure the twins were developing properly. I also saw Dr. Lee and he was wonderful. Its a very good practice. Everyone that I know that had twins saw a specialist at least once during the pregnancy. It is more of an in-depth ultrasound.

I have used them and they were great. I used them as I was over 35. I really liked them and they are high tech.I did still continue to see my regular OB. They were also very nurturing and explained things well. Happy pregnancy!

Congrats on your twins! They are fun - I too have twins - who will be 2 in March! It's a wild ride...but fun!!!

I saw everyone in that practice - Moran, Lee and Taylor. Dr. Taylor is AMAZING - so gentle, caring, really takes his time to talk to you, calm your fears, etc. But you will likely see all three. I ended up on bedrest at Edward just before 30 weeks (Dr. Lee put me on bedrest) so I saw one of them everyday for the 18 days I was on bedrest before I delivered.

I believe, though I could be wrong, that whichever OB-Gyn you go to - will send you to this group for a level II ultrasound - due to twins!

But rest assured, the whole group (especially Dr. Taylor!) is Amazing!

I can not speak more highly of Dr. Taylor. He was fantastic - very professional, took the time to answer all my questions (I never felt rushed with him) and a very nice bedside manner. I was on bed rest around 5.5 months and struggled with some high risk issue and as a first time mom I was very scared/nervous. He was straightforward and diligent. I did see Dr. Lee once when Dr. Taylor was out of town and he was very good too, but I really connected more personally with Dr. Taylor. Good luck.

Hello- Yes, I used them with my last pregnancy- the perinatologists you mentioned. I had a high risk pregancy as I had to be on my seizure meds the last 4 months of my pregnancy and they watched me like a hawk. They were excellent. I even had to take my other two young ones (2 1/2) and 4) year olds to some of the non stress tests and they were accomidateing (sp?) they had a small tv with a vcr to have the kids watch a movie while I laid there for the non stress tests (once a week for the last 6 weeks). I recommend them and I never had a multiple birth, but I think why not see them they are the specialists in that area. Good luck to you.
