L.L.
This made me giggle. The reason being is because I have 10 pillows on my bed and I doubt any 2 of them have the same pillow case :)
So I don't like the pillowcases that came with my bed set. Not comfortable. I asked my hubby to help make the bed and he told me they should all match. That it looks nice and neat when they match. I agree but I'm going for comfort.I have two favorite ones that are so soft and comfy but don't match the comforter. No one sees them anyways and if they did I wouldn't even think twice about something like that unless I was showing my house for a sale. He said he thinks most women care about that. Really? I said you're lucky I'm making the bed at all! He wasn't trying to criticize me but it kinda made me roll my eyes. He also thinks the one time a month he cleans up the kitchen he does this wonderful job and I don't put everything away. That's because if I know I'm going to use it soon I'll leave it on the counter. I'm constantly running here and there for the kids/family. I need convienience. Yet I put ingredients away as I use them when I cook and his mess will sit there until I clean it up. Men! Do I really need to match my pillowcases?

I'm a little OCD about my bed, but they don't *have* to match! are the Sheet Police going to come & arrest you? LOL
I like mine to *go with* my sheets but it doesn't have to be the ones from the sheet set. Plus, I've got way more pillows on my bed than two for the ones from the set.
Once you find good feeling pillowcases, you love them!
I don't care if my sheets match my pillowcases or even if the top sheet matches the bottom sheet. It's not as though visitors tour my bedroom. When I'm in the bed, the lights are off or dim.
If I'm asleep, I can't see the sheets or the pillowcases.
If I'm knocking boots with my honey, the last thing on my mind is the decor.
No. I rarely even have matching sheets, lol.
maybe if i was selling my house & having people come look i'd match everything to look nice.
but, every day?no. right now my normal blanket is in the wash and i have a carebear comforter on my bed! LOL
I volunteered to teach sewing classes to kids at school and on of the projects is to make a pillowcase. I also made pillowcases for my family that matched their interests. So I really hope the answer to this question is "No"..... And by the way, the women that do mind..... are they spending a lot of time in your bedroom? Just sayin'.......If he is really concerned you can hide the comfy pillow under a pillow with a shame or the uncomfortable case on it.
Nope - comfort matters more to me, too. Especially if they're under the comfortor - who cares? And who else is going to be in your bed to see them? LOL! Men are funny sometimes!
He would hate my bed. I am a pillow finatic and have 8 pillows just for myself! Ha Ha Ha. So, I use unmatched pillow cases from sheets that I have had in the past (threw away old sheets but kept the pillow cases). I have Frosty the snowman pillow cases, heart pillow cases, plain white ones, pink and purple ones, bright red ones, and snow flake ones. Ha Ha Ha. If they are clean then who should care, right! Ha Ha.
As far as the counter... I have to agree with him on that one, sorry. I don't like a messy countertop.
I hate he made a statement comparing you to "Most Women." My smartass answer to that would be "MOST Women wouldn't put up with your behind!" But that's just me. My ex used to do the dishes once in a while and he'd act as if he were teaching by example! He would say "now THATS how you do the dishes " now he's an ex!
Other than his rude insinuation that you don't measure up to most women, I get you on the pillow cases. I want to be comfortable when I sleep. Bottom line. I don't care if it matches unless I'm having company. Maybe you could go buy some soft pillowcases that coordinate with the matching set. If it's a gold paisley with maroon accents, get soft Egyptian cotton maroon pillowcases.
No way. If he is picky, then get two separate pillows for the matching pillow cases, then have the comfy pillows with the pillow cases you like under that. It's a little old fashioned these days to have perfectly matching sets. I'm an interior design blogger and I never see matching sets anymore. You can use pillow cases cases that compliment the bedding.
In fact, my whole room is an eclectic mess, unmatched pillows included:

Good. Love your question and all the posts now I know I am not alone....My mother spent $1000 on her matching stuff....Guess what I can't and don't care....LOL ...Now if guests are staying I will do my best to be sure everything matches and looks nice. On my bed right now....mulitple throw blankets over all the bedding...they are nice and cozy and DH and kiddies love 'em.
I have three pillow on my bed. Mine with a knit pillowcase, one with white case, and the other is one with out a case period. Seriously, if you have a decroative pillow case on top or you put the pillows under the sheet there is NO POINT! Your husband is being silly and rather generalizing women. Not all of us care if EVERYTHING match. We care if it looks good, but matching doesn't have to happen.
Look at fashion. You don't have to match your purse to your shoes anymore, if there is a color that matches in the pattern or looks good together, go for it. If you don't care if they match, go for it! It's your comfy pillow, do what you want. You are the one who actually takes care of the bedroom!
Um, ours rarely even match each other. By the time I get to changing our sheets the chances of me having the pillow cases that match our sheet set in the same place (and all clean) are so slim I could care less. So usually we have a matching sheet set (all cheap and not so comfy), and two different pillow cases, neither of which match each other.
Lately my husband's been awesome and changing the sheets for me since I'm 9 months pregnant and it is so uncomfortable for me to wrestle with our bed and I think he would prefer to make it "properly" when he makes it, but I don't care as long as things are clean. Someday I'll put things away together so we can find them in one place. =)
I have 4 pillows on my bed so 2 pillowcases match and 2 do not. My grandma died in 1969 and I am fortunate to have some pillow cases and table cloths she embroderied and crocheted to decorate them. I use 2 pillowcases that match the set and 2 she made.
Take hubby shopping and show him that quite often comforter sets often come with non matching pillowcases and they look really nice.
Okay, some people are just real persnickety. Your Husband is one of them.
My Husband too.
EVERYTHING has to be matchy-poo and symmetrical.
I am not like that.
My Husband, also like your husband, will maybe clean one area of the house once a month. And think that HE is the only one that 'knows' how to clean. (yah, right. He is always leaving his stuff all over house not put away).
I roll my eyes too.
NO pillowcases do NOT have to match.
How boring if in life everything had to match.
That's what I say.
We must have the same Husband.
If he needs for them to match, let him go out and buy matching pillow shams. He puts them over the pillow (in its comfy case) when he makes the bed in the morning and you take them off when you go to sleep.
Our pillow cases don't match and when I say that, I mean my husband and I use different ones. We do this purposely so they don't get mixed up -- I don't want him sleeping on my pillow and vice versa :) Especially during cold season. Also, he doesn't like the "feel" of some of ours so I used the higher thread count NICE ones for him and the cheaper ones for me.
