Hi Moms needing some advice here.... I sometimes have massive pain in my right side abdomin when I insert a tampon. I know I am doing it properly. I never know when the pain will be there some times it is there and others it is not. This pain hurts so bad it takes my breath away and brings tears to my eyes and doubles me over. It lasts for about 30 to 60 seconds. Do any of you know what this may be? I have had a child and I am in my late 30's....
I agree with the ladies here - massive pain means a doctor appointment right away. The sooner you get this taken care of the better.

Call your doc, don't wait. I just spent the night in the emergency room and am sitting in surgical waiting room at 6 am because my 12 yr old daughter had a 15cm (that's massive) cyst on her ovary that flipped and killed the ovary. Weird that your question came up right now.
Do you know if you have Endometriosis or not? My mom and sister both have it. My sister finally had a NovaSure Ablation done because she had so many problems/issues. One of them was her period.
It would be something to have checked out. Endometriosis can hurt all the time, or only during your period, or only during one specific thing--like putting in a tampon, or even having sex. I'd see your OB/GYN and have it ruled out.
The fact that it only hurts sometimes--well, I'm not sure. When I have had cysts on my ovaries, they usually only hurt during my period time. So I'd get checked for both, cysts and Endometriosis.
I had a NovaSure Ablation as well when I was 40 years old, because I was experiencing very, very heavy bleeding for no apparent reason with suddenly drasticly short periods. Now I no longer have a period, never have any cysts, and have no more pain.
It could be a cyst, pelvic inflammatory disease (antibiotics fixes), infection...just a few different things off the top of my head. All suspicians mean you need to see a doctor asap. Not emergency room necessarily tonight if you aren't in pain currently, but tomorrow whether the pain is there or not. JMO.
Sorry this is happening:( Pain sucks....just get in so it doesn't become something more severe in pain symptoms or more difficult and medically intensive to treat.

It could be an ovarian cyst. I have a bad history of ovarian cysts and because of which could never wear tampons without pain. I would set up an appt with your doc to get a basic ultrasound to see whats going on. If you have any ovarian cysts, the ultrasound will pick up on it. i have had to have many surgeries to get my cysts removed because they would grow big and burst and it would hurt like a BIT*CH!. I mean, it would feel like labor pains. My cysts have become less frequent since i had my son, but I still get them and most of the time, they go away on their own. However, I still cant wear tampons without feeling pain. (and i know im putting them in correctly.)
I agree, sounds like a cyst. I just had 3 (at 1 time) that sent me to the emergency room last spring. They did not operate or do anything other than an ultrasound and an exam. They then sent me home with pain pills and I haven't had a problem since. The doc said I may get them at any time and they may or may not hurt. They often go away on their own, but sometimes may require surgery.
I agree with the others about it possibly being a cyst...please go to the Dr. In the future, you may have btter luck with not having pain, but still having the convienience of an internal feminine product, by using a re-usable menstrual cup, like the DivaCup or the Keeper or MoonCup. Much safer/healthier for you, and better for the environment, as well as being very easy to use/convienient!
That warrants a visit to the gyno. Time to go- today.
A cyst was the first thing that popped into my mind. I would call the doc tomorrow & set up an exam/ultrasound. Something doesn't sound quite right. Good luck T.! :)
