It is police officer memorial week and I want to bring lunch out to my husband's police department for all of the officers and their families. It is a small department, so we'll be feeding probably 30 people total. Do you have any suggestions on what I can either pick up or make?

What can I do next?

My husband is also an officer but at a bigger dept. so I always just do something for his division and include the chief and just make some extra. Anyway I usually do a sandwich tray from Subway or Quiznos and buy chips with dips and then I make cookies. I don't want to do anything that has to be heated cause I never know when they are going to have to "eat and run" I also fill a cooler with cold bottled water and the water last them several days. I've also seen wives just have pizza delivered and bring a veggie tray.

not sure if you have thought about catering... but for a lot of functions I use Corner Bakery or Blue Mesa Grill; I think they are pretty reasonable for catering services...

What about soup and sandwiches.. You can make a big pot of soup different sandwiches and bring in crackers and drinks.. Or what about Rotel cheese dip.. If you don't want to use hamburger meat, I have tried ground turkey and it is just as good. You can always try subway if you need sandwich trays or Kroger and Tom Thumb have really nice trays.. Check out BBQ places as well. I live in Euless and we love North Main BBQ~ You could always buy the meat and make potato salad and beans if you are trying to cut cost.. Hope this helps a little.

My husband and I are both officers for a large department, and it is always nice when people bring in sandwich trays. It is so easy to grab your food and go, since you never know if you will have the luxury to sit down in the break room and eat your food. I'm sure that whatever you do, it will be appreciated.

Hi J.,
If you are interested in catering the lunch I highly recommend "Cafe Max" in Richardson, Texas. I use to live in Richardson and ate there often. This is a very popular, busy, successful restaurant that I have only heard good things about for over 18 years. It has the most delicious food: salads, chicken salad, cucumber salad, seafood salad and much more. They have short hours M-F and not open on weekends.
