Does anyone live in the lower Greenville area with kids? My husband and I live in Plano and are considering moving to the lower Greenville. We have a 13-month old and a 12-year old (who is with us on a part time basis). Any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

If you want to live near downtown without paying for the M streets, look at Lake Highlands. They use RISD. I used to live in Old Lake Highlands (houses are too small for families) and I know a couple who decided to make the move to get RISD schools.

Hi C.

My husband, 3 month old and I live in the lower Greenville area. We live just around the corner from Kirby's steakhouse. We absolutely love the neighborhood and have never had any safety concerns. All of our neighbors are very friendly and we love the charm and character of the older homes. Since our son is so young, we don't have a good network of parents and kids yet. But, there are plenty of young families that live around here. Good luck with your move.

I am sorry but I have no clue but I do have a 10 1/2 month old son and a 15 yr old son and maybe they could become playmates.
My older son moved w/his dad and I get him part time.

Where in Plano do you live? I go to Plano all the time.

Hi. We live very close to lower greenville in the c-streets (we have a 6mo old) and also know friends who do live in lower greenville area with kids. If your question is whether this is an area where you can raise kids -- YES FOR SURE! I absolutely love this area and would never live in the burbs! The m-streets (lower greenville) as well as lakewod and the c-streets are all great areas with great nearby schools and things to do. Hope this helps.

2 years ago we moved away from that area because the schools and crime were so bad. Most people that live in Dallas have to use private schools because there are so many issues with DISD.

Hi, C.!

My family lived in the Lower Greenville/M Streets area for many years. We are currently living by White Rock Lake, which is nice, but I would move back to Lower Greenville in a heartbeat!

Despite what you may have seen on the news over the past few years, Lower Greenville is extremely safe. It's a very warm neighborhood, with lots of families (especially younger children).

There are parks and playgrounds, a pool over at Tietze Park by Skillman and Vanderbilt, lots of kid friendly restaurants, and all within walking distance!

I say, go for it! I think you'll be happy you did!

Please email me if you need any specific information that I haven't mentioned --

Good luck!

I have a friend that lives near that area. She's on mamasource.com as well, but it's not the same as this one. I think that area might fall out of THIS mamasource's jurisdiction. You might try to log onto mamasource.com with the zip code you're wanting to know about and post your question there. Just a thought.

Also, that friend LOVES the area. She wants to move to Plano to get a bigger house for less money, but hates the idea of leaving her neighborhood. She said that if her family takes the boys for a walk in the evenings, they barely make it 3 blocks because so many people are out and about to talk to. I know that's not usually the case in my neighborhood.

Good luck!!!
