Hi. My husband and I will be celebrating our anniversary (7 years)in a couple of weeks. Our kids will be at grandma's for the night. We are looking for somewhere to go and have dinner and possibly spend the night. Does anyone have any ideas? We would like to be no more than an hour from Plainfield. Thanks

What can I do next?

I would say live it up and head into the city. :) You could even go see a performance of some sort too. Tons of places in the city and the Holiday Inn at Merchandise Mart has some of the most reasonable rates...and you can always do priceline/hotels.com too. Congrats!

My husband & I went to the Everest Room for our anniversary a couple years ago. It's downtown Chicago. I have never been to a restaurant so amazing in my life. It's pricey (approx $300 after tip) for their prix fixe menu for 2 (and 2 glasses of wine). I could go on and on forever about how fantastic it was!!!!!!!! If you want the narration, let me know, I'll write more off the post! If you go, ask for a window seat... http://www.everestrestaurant.com/restaurant.htm

My husband and I like to go to Pheasant Run Resort and Spa in St. Charles. They have a lot of packages at reasonable rates. They have plays and a comedy club there, and rooms with great amenities. To check it out I think the website is pheasantrun.com And Congrads on 7 years!

I've never been there, but I've heard very nice things about Pheasant Run in St. Charles. http://www.pheasantrun.com/dining/index.htm

They have several restaurants and lounges, a theater, live music, hotel, golf course, etc.

There is a Marriott hotel in Lincolnshire that is very nice. There is a really great restaurant called the Fisherman's Wharf in the hotel. Seafood and steak are the specialties. They also have a theater. We saw Grease, had dinner, and spent the night. It was a really fantastic getaway. There are no bad seats at the theater because the stage is in the center (theater in the round). The beds were some of the best I've ever slept in at a hotel!!! We can't wait to go back again. Here is the website:

Go on Hotels.com or Priceline.com or similar and type in a price range, star level, and general location (like Rosemont, Oakbrook, etc.) and wait for the surprise. My husband and I do this and it's fun to not know exactly where you are going. Generally, if you choose a 3 star hotel, it's pretty nice. Have fun!

I'm not sure if this is your style, but there is a beautiful B&B in Roselle, IL that is a winery as well. Here is the website, if you would like to take a peek! :)

M.,
Not sure as far as spending the night, but I work at a place called Hollywood Blvd which could be a great place to start your evening. Hollywood Blvd, if you have never heard of it, is a cinema, bar, and eatery. It is an amazing concept, you get to have dinner and a movie in one place! It is located in Woodridge so it isn't too terribly far from Plainfield. If you would like to check into it a little more go to www.atriptothemovies.com and it has all the info for you. Congrats on 7 years.

Depending on where you are in Plainfield, (we are in Aurora and it takes us just under an hour) - but we love going to Starved Rock - they have all different kinds of accommodations from camping to cabins - some with fireplace to hotel lodging. The trails are beautiful. You should check out there website. Happy Anniversary!
